It really depends on your computer. I personally use the Hauppauge PVR with my 360, PS3 and Wii and it works great. I understand where you're coming from though, last month I too was trying to decide between these two recorders. After reading the reviews I went with the Hauppague mostly because it didn't seem like my brand new computer (With a 2600k) would be capable of handling the Blackmagic without setting up a raid. Not only that but a lot of people also said they needed to get a HDMI powered splitter in order to get rid of a 5 second lag between the console and the PC. I'm very happy with my Hauppauge and have had absolutely no issues with it at all. The quality of the video is fantastic, you can choose to record in Dolby Digital 5.1 for audio if you want to, and it hasn't had any problems recording for up to 6 hours at a time. If you do decide to go with the Hauppage, I recommend picking it up from BestBuy as the unit I got there came in a different box and it looks a lot newer than the pictures of the one on Newegg.com. I'm not sure if there is a difference, but it definitely looks newer. I hope this helps!
