anyone have experience with Blizzard Battle.net authenticator? My WoW account was hacked for the second time, and considering this tool is only 6.50 I decided to get it. Does it work well? Any problems?

It makes your battle.net account (WoW + SC2) pretty much impossible to steal. I would be worried about your computer though. It's probably still infected which means they could get more valuable information like bank account info (if you do online banking), credit card info (if you buy stuff online), etc.

true, I just did a full scan (Avast!) and nothing turned up, though. I really do not want to format my PC lol
Have you got an iPhone/Android/Windows Phone. That version is FREE, you get a free pet and it works great....anyone have experience with Blizzard Battle.net authenticator? you don't necessarily have to have your PC infected to get your account stolen. I had mine jacked in April 2010 whena) it was using a unique 10-character alphanumeric password with symbols/numbers/upper+lowercase letters
b) i hadn't played WoW since 2005
c) the PC i used to play it was reformatted back in 2006
d) i hadn't logged into battle.net since before said PC was reformatted
so... yeah. without having so much as *typed* this password on any PC in half a decade, the account was compromised out of nowhere. :P probably just a lot of brute-force guessing or something with my security question, i dunno. they also didn't try to *change* my password when they were logging in, just half my chars had their items sold and were filled with thorium. i grabbed the mobile authenticator after that, just to keep others off my account. it does essentially make your account inaccessible to anybody that's not you, at least.

You could always save your password in a notepad then copy>paste it into the login screen, Mr Bojangles.

I experienced pretty much the same thing. I imagine it's some sort of social engineering at play.. guy calls in to get a password reset and either gets the wrong Blizz employee, or gets enough info each time to be able to get in. I downloaded the free Blizz authenticator for iOS, but I'm not looking forward to inputting the code every time I want to log on. Also, the authentication server was down a week or so ago and people that had them weren't able to log in to the game.[QUOTE="James00715"]

If you are still that afraid, you could download a trial of ESET Nod32 for 30 days, from ESET.com. Run the scan, It is a premium Anti-virus/anti-spyware, but 30 day free trial is more than enough for what you would need it for.
i've had several guildmates report their accounts getting hacked as well. WoW hacking is rampant and more aggressive than any other mmo i've seen.Hmm... your account has been hacked... MY account has been hacked just recently... and Blizzard put up a new help page about hacked accounts. Coincidence or mass hacking all around?

My account got hacked a while back and the first thing I did was turn my password into a bloody sentence and got myself an authenticator. Has worked wonders since...the only problem is that my interest in WoW has started to drop off. I spend more times playing Borderlands, while waiting for Old Republic to come out.
I was hacked once... got my account back then added the Authenticator. I also made a new email and assigned my B.net account to that new email. I was receiving an email from "Blizzard" that someone was trying to use forgot your password to my old email.... so just be careful of those spam mails.trastamad03
I suspect blizzard sells personal information, how else would everyone be getting all these targeted spam mails.

yeah pretty much the same deal here; first time it was a farmer (I ended up with 15k gold and a whole mess of saronite, so it worked in my favor :P) and this most recent time they just vendored everyone and mailed my gold to another account (though they did give me two levels on my now-level-84 death knight lol)
I am not too worried about my PC being compromised; so far nothing bad has happened to anything, and if a legit hacker was going to make his move (i.e. on my banking, my facebook, my email, etc) he would have done it by now.

unfortunately I got my good ol' Motorola Razor :P
I have one and it work great. However remember that just because you have one you are not 100% safe. It improve your security but remember to still think before you press on links and so on.KalDurenikIt may as well be 100% safe, since the only way a hacker could gain access to you account after that is physically having the keyfob in their hand to get a code, since once a code is used to log in, that code is dead. Even a if a key logger caught a code, they wouldnt be able to use it to log in after the fact.

They probably just brute-forced your wow account if all of your other accounts are fine. Authenticator pretty much makes that impossible.
