Blizzard drops Customer Service

Do you play WoW? this could happen to you, as its a sad day in the gaming community when a company like blizzard thinks its customers are expendable.... WE AREN'T!!

Heres the story, I began playing WoW about 2-3 months ago and leveled up a character to level 60. I come home Friday night, with a just bought copy of burning crusade in my hands so i can level up past 60 only to find my accounts been locked??!?! and for CHEATING?!!?? I had never cheated, and it cited that I was using some sort of Gold exploit, and funny thing is I've been hurting for gold in game, as I needed to buy an epic mount which costs untold amounts of gold. So I try to contact blizzard by phone, the guy tells me he can't help me as its under 'investigations' and he cannot even tell me why it was suspended. This, I would really need to know, as it seems my system was compromised in some way, and I only use that computer for WoW and WoW alone. Its been almost 72 hours and I still have not received a reply from the 'accountadmins', 72 hours of minutes I PAID FOR. The people I have so far talked to on the phone have been very, VERY arrogant, even when I was nice at first. To say my account is in 'investigations' is a little over kill, plus given the fact I DON'T cheat and the fact they have all the game logs should be like less than a one hour process to remove my suspension and send me an apology.... yet not even a 'we're looking into this, sorry for your inconvenience' email has been sent.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, OR ANY BLIZZARD GAME UNLESS YOU PLAN ON FLUSHING 2 MONTHS OF HARD WORK DOWN THE DRAIN ONLY TO END UP WITH A SUSPENDED ACCOUNT FOR NO REASON BUT PLAYING BY THE RULES.

THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A GAME AND HAS BEEN THE WORST, THE WORST!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED FROM ANY COMPANY.

15 Million subscribers, they won't care if they lose one customer.

I never had any form of negativeness with customer support when I used to play, and I was in a similar situation to you (accused of buying gold [breaking ToS]) and my problem was resolved swiftly and politely. I was inconvieneinced for 2 days, and i got 2 days of playtime added to my account.

Sounds like a different company you are talking about :/

Don't know if you cheated or no but at least they said you are under investigation, Valve bans you from the VAC system without caring if you cheat and they won't discuss it at all, so you wouldn't be able to play more than 85% of the servers for any valve game, but yeah wow is just a server (well more realms) and you only have one playable character, so it's pretty bad for you. Maybe all things will be sorted out and there have been problems like this in the past and if it took more than 5 days or so, Blizz gave the next month free of charge or they gave a valuable item, but I can't be sure of that, there have been rare cases.

I DONT HAVE A MONTH, I SHIP OUT WITH THE MARINE CORP IN A MONTH I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I AM COMING BACK.... so in this case extra time is WORTHLESS to me, I simply wanted to play some WoW with some hometown friends that I will have to be saying goodbye too soon.

This was precisely what I was about to say. MMOs require you to invest a lot of time. Which isn't necesarily a bad thing - until you get banned or stop playing. Then you realize how much time you killed.

This is true for all sorts of games, but I find that in other genres (where you can pick it up whenever and stop playing whenever) don't really *push* you to keep on playing or bind you to the game.

Thank God I never got into MMOs, I'm already wasting so much of my life playing FPS games...

you must be like 13 kid... same type of ignorant people that inhabit 90% of the WoW servers.... I can't wait till you have your account suspended for no reason and you remember calling me a Gold farmer... cause it WILL happen to you and I can't wait! :)

This doesn't only apply with World of Warcraft, but to all blizzard titles.... Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 are coming out in the near future, and I have been a blizzard customer since Warcraft 1.... and this incident was the first of its kind in dealing with blizzard, in the past they have always been prompt and kind, yet this recent event has caused me to cancel my pre-orders and scratch any sort of purchase of a blizzard product in the future unless they decide to figure out how to make a time machine and give me my time back... which is not going to happen... SO just don't forget WHEN YOU BUY A BLIZZARD PRODUCT BE PREPARED FOR HALF ANSWERS AND PROBLEMS IF YOU EVER HAVE TO CONTACT BATTLE.NET OR ACCOUNT ADMINS and be prepared for the most frustrating trial as a customer you will ever have

Well since you didn't cooperate with the Blizzard support and mail them or called them back at least 2 days from the incident then maybe you should get a girlfriend to waste some time before you go to the marines. You know too much Wow can ruin your health, stamina and in all probability make you fat, so spend the days on another game or socializing.

May I recommend Team Fortress 2 to play with? You're going to learn how to work as a team if you're enlisting in the marines. XD

I don't play WoW anymore, so I doubt it will happen. Anyway Blizzard doesn't ban people without a good reason. You did something. What it is I doubt you'll ever confess to.

Oh, and for the record... I haven't been 13 since 1982.

seriously chill out a bit. "omgzzz 72 hourszz". thats not a lot. i had a problem with sky, the signal was really bad and i had to wait 3 weeks for a technician, though they gave me one month free. what kind of a spoiled person you are? blizzard does not ban for no reason and they have one of the best customer services around.

I smell the bullcrap. No way are you old enough to get into the Marine corps. And even if you were, you wouldn't want to spend your last days at home playing WoW.

And yeah DD, VAC are really nasty. I don't cheat so I hope I never have to deal with it, but I've heard of mis-accusations along with people who've been banned after being hijacked.

I don't know what Blizzard you're talking about, but whenever I had to talk to customer service, I've never had a problem. For example, back when I played WoW and had a scratched disc problem, I called Blizzard and I got a quick response (Which was to copy the data to the computer, and burn it to a cd), and I was able to get WoW running within a few minutes (final cd)(patching not included)

I've had 3 instances where I've had to ring Blizzard and sort things out which involved someone logging my account, mailing off all my gold and selling everything I had. Each time, I had to stay on the line for about 40 minutes, which was a pain, and being in Australia I figured they really wouldn't care, but it turns out they were very nice about it, and sorted the whole mess out for me swiftly. 3 times!

Maybe things are different when one is accused of cheating, who knows, but as for me, it has definitely been the best customer service I've ever received, especially from overseas. Sorry things were different for you, and I hope they resolve it all.

I played WOW for 3 years and never was banned or had a problem. Blizzard has its faults but usually its very good on its customer support. I feel you are leaving out details in your story and you probably did cheat. They banned tons of accounts because they were using bots on their characters so that they could level without having to actually play the game. I tend to figure you fall into that category or at least cheated in some fashion and just dont want to admit it to us.

That or you were just really rude to someone in the game a few times and got reported for harrassment.

Gold farmer.....

wow....that's totally uncalled for. guy just made a legit complaint to a not unusual situation and you insulted him without any further question. you're usually ok, JR....but i find you invariably losing your cool everytime people say something against WoW. sad.

speaking from personal experience, WoW customer service is indeed flawed in many ways. updater loads miserably slow, community website service is off and on. and the most ironic thing is, they can't even get their subscription page to work properly. they replied my complaint with apology -- sorry, Blizz, not accepted. i don't care if i'm 1 out 5 or 10 million players. they can't fix their problem, they don't earn my money, that's it. so, to the OP, yea, i fully understand your feeling.
