Seriously, WoW has a terrible optimization if you turn all the setting to max.

Even Starcraft 2 starts to slow down on a PC that can max out ME2 and play Crysis at a considerably high setting.

It's okay for a game with high end graphics to require humongous resources to run at max, but games that chug at the highest setting with behind-the-curve graphics boggle my mind.

Company of Heroes runs better than Sc2 on highest setting. Why is that?

Hell, Age of Empires 3 runs better than Sc2 as well.

Actually Blizzard games are very well optimized... maybe your PC hates Blizzard games :P Ive played Blizzard games at max settings on some pretty crappy computers without lag. SC2 everything on ultra for me has no lag ever, same thing for WoW and WC3

Optimize it by lowering the settings a bit. If you know what your doing you can get loads of FPS back with minimal visual losses.

Maxing out ME2 doesn't take alot, that counts for all UE3 games.

But yeah it's badly optimised, I heard there's not even multicore support.

if you've played some of the crazier mods of stacraft2 you would think its very well optimized. maps like nexus wars can have several hundred units on the screen at once and it still manages to look good without stuttering. granted, i don't have an uber high end rig so i can't say how that end of the settings fare.

In matter of fact Crysis maxed out at 8xAA and 16xAF runs better than WoW maxed out with 8xMulti sampling and 16xAF

No complaints on my end. Max out all Blizzard games including World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2 with no slow down. 60+fps in SC2, consistently. If anything Blizzard games are extremely well optimized from low-end to high-end users. Whatever problems you're having though, I hope you will be able to fix it. What are your specs?

Sc2 was poorly optmized during beta. Or so it seemed. Now it runs smooth. Unlike other games(ME2) sc2 is very heavy on things THAT ARENT your video card.

This seems like a good thread to add something I noticed. The new patch 4.0.1 seems to have made the graphics sharper and cleaner looking. The colours seem different too, like they are more vibrant. There is a greater draw distance too I think. I also noticed that performance (on my system at least) has went way up. Going through somewhere that used to make my PC struggle such as Grizzly Hills forrests is no longer stressing my PC at all. I also noticed load times are a lot faster because the game loads differently now.

In some areas, it runs supersmooth even with a lot of players standing and jumping around, like in Ogrimmar and Stormwind; but in Northrend, it lags a bit more. Probably because Northrend has more visual appeals like the aurora, etc.

I did notice a few days ago when it was crowded as hell in Dalaran it was running at 17fps. But I'm sure they have improved the engine though because I used to get similar framerates in Grizzly Hills and now it's running really well.

High-end users?

It's called future-proofing.
