Well i recently started playing WoW again and i went to see something in my account and seen that i owe more then the usual monthly fee. I owe $16.34 per month instead of the normal $14.99 per month. I took a screen shot of the billing information.

Im ending my subscription ASAP and gonna get this figured out.

WoW is not worth even 2$, let alone an extra 2$ over the crappy 14$ fee.

I said the same thing a few years ago man. It's just taxes I thought my 6-month bill would be 70 bucks and it turned out to be 84. It turns out that even digital subscriptions are taxed. Dont blame them though, if you dont like it being taxed blame your country lol. Also.......how much you get taxed depends on what state you're in. Here in NYC its 8.75%

thats not the point. This occurs all the time with essentially everything a person can be "billed" for; internet, cable, and now WoW I suppose.

Its the fact that they dont provide an explanation. Furthermore, Blizzard's parent company Vivendi iirc grossed over 1 BILLION (!!!) dollars this year and the majority of that was from WoW subscriptions iirc. Seems pretty unreasonable to hike the price up over a dollar.

While i agree that $2 isn't that much, especially each MONTH.. but then if everyone accepts it, where will it end? They will continue to put it up and eventually it'll be very expensive.

$1-2 may not be much, even per month, but when you think they have 10 million subscribers it is a HELL of a lot of money.

Though a very intersting find.. I fail to see how a trivial increase in price will stop you from playing a game that you already were shelling out money for to begin with.

Its the companies goal to make the most money possible.. I fail to see why people would expect any such deviation from this goal from a company.

Hatred and anger are very powerful. You are underestimating the power of the Dark Side (tm). :P

As many peoples say, tax and laws and catching up. Maybe your area was backward and didn't charge taxes on WoW for years while it should, they catch up, put a fines and fees to Blizzard, and now they just applied it to the customers. :P

Personnally, when I play a MMO, I pay with Visa...since I am Canadian, I see the price fluctuate every month. :P I wouldn't play WoW even if it was the only MMO existing however, the last time I pay for a MMOs which force me to raid was in 2003...I never look backward since. Raiding games are dead for me, so very dead. :) Wouldn't consider PvP or RvR games either. I want to group/solo in PvE, everything else must be irrelevant, and better rewards in non-grouping/soloing isn't acceptable. No point to argue.

What you have to realize is that most (not all) people are acceptive of changes or high prices if things are explained to them right from the start. What people don't like are surprises when it comes to things, even if it is minute.

The company I work for is strongly based on new construction and since new construction (especially homes) has been way down for the pat 2-3 years, work has been slow. We are genearlly given a review at the start of every year and informed if we are getting a raise and how much....this year the upper management (the owner and his two sons) have not said a word to anyone. People have asked and we've been ignored...

People don't like bad surprises. If I was in the OP's position and noticed I was paying more then I agreed to when I signed up, I'd be pretty pissed, too.

The Subscription options for World of Warcraft (in U.S dollars) are as follows:

1 month: $14.99
3 months: $41.97 ($13.99 per month) *
6 months: $77.94 ($12.99 per month) *

* Please note that the 3-month and 6-month subscriptions must be paid in full at the beginning of the billing cycle.

Players in select states around the U.S. have found that their monthly subscription fee is slightly higher than expected. With the rise of many online subscription-based services, several states have begun to apply a tax to services that use such a model, and this tax is an additional cost that players are seeing added onto the base subscription rate.

Specifically, residents of the following states will be charged this tax:

Illinois
Massachusetts
New Mexico
New York
Texas
Washington

There you go.

In the time it took you to take a screen shot, ms paint your CC info out, make a post and host the image you could have simply read Blizzard's billing policy.

I am guessing your state is one of the states Johnny_Rock mentioned about having higher subscription costs. Or if not, contact Blizzard and find out why. I am sure they won't kill you for asking.

there's no difference. move to another country if you can't handle it.

Blizzard should be informing about that on the site though. Tbh, of all companies i buyed some service from, Blizzard i think caused the least problems. i'm quite happy with them

My thoughts exactly. If everybody is ok with it, what will stop the state/federal or the publisher from raising it a little more all the time. Gotta put your foot down at some point.

Ahh..I remember the good ol days when the internet was NOT a giant billboard, and games were free to play.

Wait...are you actually advocating people stop paying taxes because "what will stop the state/federal[es] from raising it a little more all the time"? Yeah...that sounds like a grand idea...good luck with that.
