Hope this doesn't affect the quality of the finished product...

I'm curious where they are reassigning the other employees. More staff into Blizzard DOTA? With a staff of only 30 for Titan, it doesn't sound like it's priority at the moment.Elann2008
blizzard DOTA shouldnt be either.... nothing is ever going to touch DOTA2... it has gotten too much publicity, has tournaments for millions of dollars... and has established itself as the MOBA leader for serious players.
LOL may have more players, but serious MOBA players an the pros play DOTA2. blizzard might as well not even release Blizzard Heroes or whatever it is called.
this shit is just a joke.... we have known about the game since like 2009.... it seriously does not take that long to make a game, even an MMO. and blizzard proved with Diablo 3 that working on a game for a long time does NOT ensure quality. considering the recent rumors that titan is actually going to be some sort of collectible card game MMO.... any interest in this is completely gone at this point. devs really need to learn that announcing a game too early, and then going completely silent on it for years is actually detrimental....Geminon
That's Hearthstone, not Titan.

i hear ya... I want to see gameplay footage, an announcement of Titan already. I won't be returning to the MMO scene until then. And that World of Darkness game is like classified govt project or something? lol I haven't heard of it since.. these game development times are absurd.. by the time it releases.. it'll look dated as hell."complete reset of the entire development team and project"
Am I reading this correctly? They are basically going to do what they did to D3 and completely overhaul years worth of work.
Yeah probably, which is fine by me if they thought the direction the game was taking wasn't good enough."complete reset of the entire development team and project"

That's how it sounds like... which sucks. I know they have the money to pull it off but haven't they been working on this since 2009 with 100 or so people? Seems rather strange..."complete reset of the entire development team and project"

and since this is CCP i would rather they take as much time needed.Â

Wow.. thanks for that read. It's gonna be a long wait.they will never replicate the success of WOW... WOW is a complete anomaly in every sense of the word. for whatever reason, it came out at the perfect time and caught on.... its called a FAD. there is no explanation for why fads happen, they just do.They might need until 2017, they have to at least match the most successful MMO in history or risk being the biggest fail in MMO in history.

My biggest concern is that they are losing their edge as a company. Whether they scrapped development because they didn't like where it was going or not, that still says something bad. Â Why would a company work on a project for 4 years and THEN realize they don't like it? Shouldn't this have been something that was decided in concept? Because that's the only reason I can find that you would scrap a project and start over, if something was fundamentally wrong with what they were creating. Â I'm an avid Blizzard fanboy of over 12 years, but Blizzard seems to be slipping these past couple of years.
this shit is just a joke.... we have known about the game since like 2009 Geminon
We've known about their schedule since 2009, not really the game.  All we knew about it was the forecast and order they planned to release their products: Starcraft 2 and expansions, WoW expansions, Diablo 3 and expansions, and finally Titan. I believe even on that "leaked" 2009 schedule, Titan was scheduled for 2015 or 2016 iirc.
When you have three huge games that require teams of employees simply to maintain, not to mention numerous projects already in the works (Starcraft 2 protoss, Diablo expansion, etc), your going to take your sweet ass time with a new IP that is already on the backburner to begin with.

As an avid Blizzard fanboy you should remember:
- all the cancelled games whose concepts eventually landed into Starcraft (like Shattered Nations or that stupid space vampires game)
- the Starcraft redesign back when it was basically a reskinned Warcraft 2
- Pax Imperia 2, sold to THQ halfway through development
- Nomad, the squad based shooter cancelled in favour of WoW because half the team was inspired by Warhammer and the other half by Final Fantasy
- Classics like Warcraft Adventures and Starcraft: Ghost
- Starcraft 2, in constant development since summer 2003
- the All-Stars fiasco, also gone through at least one reboot
- a whole bunch of games we know almost nothing about, including a possible Diablo 2 expansion trademarked in 2001
Being surprised that Blizzard scraps something midway through development is like being surprised that water is wet.
You should be surprised by things like "why is Jay Wilson working on ARPGs and MMOs when he's the senior designer of Company of Heroes and one of the Homeworld 2 and 40k leads". He's a guy you should assign to Starcraft and Warcraft, not RPGs.

Can we be best friends? (I love Seinfeld! :D)
OT: Not many games turn out well after being in development for about 10 years.
[QUOTE="iagbas"][QUOTE="chrisrooR"]I stopped taking Blizzard seriously after Diablo 3. FelipeInsideThis. Says the guy with the Diablo3 Avatar??? I end up quoting you alot and its not on purpose :P But, we like Tyreal, we don't like Diablo 3, there is a difference!
They said both major design and major technical changes. On the design side, I think they are going to make it f2p now. It's best to switch from subscription to f2p while still in development, not after release like SWTOR did. On the technical side, they are most likely upgrading the game engine. They were probably using a modifed version of the WoW engine, but it has become too dated to release a new game on. They need to make a new MMO game engine for modern times. Another possibility is that they were going for a real money auction house like Diablo 3 but now are abandoning it after seeing the problems is caused in that game.
