So I was messing around in Crysis (unmodded, all settings on very high) and noticed the reflections on some ice covered rocks looked...blocky. I didn't notice this the first time through, so either it changed with a driver update (catalyst 10.9-->10.10) or something, or I just didn't notice it before.

Is it supposed to look like that? This is right at the start of the ice level.

It's not like that for me. But it's nothing to worry about. Probably just a driver problem.

Definitely not normal, but if it's just that one rock with the blocky ice then I wouldn't worry about it so much.

Looks like Minecraft is trying to invade your Crysis world.

I've gotten blocky ice on rocks like that on both my laptop and PC. Maybe not that bad though, but for all I know if I go look at it again maybe it will be. I wouldn't be concerned about it.

Ya, I'm not so much worried as annoyed by it.

My best guess is that it's something to do with the new drivers in catalyst 10.10, since that's the only thing that has changed as far as I can tell since the last time I loaded that level up.

I'm hoping that when I patch from 1.1 to 1.21 it'll fix it.

yeah i used to get that Nearest Neighbor texture filter effect alot in crysis. I updated my drivers to a newer version & it went away. At first it was only on ice, but the textures on the gun ended up displaying that way aswell when i was aiming. You know? I wonder if there is a program outthere that forces nearest neighbor filtering on modern games? I would love to see that. :P

Gotcha. Or you could try doing a clean re-install of the video driver. It wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.

I've played Crysis on 5 different GPUs, both Nvidia and ATI/AMD, and I've seen that effect at least once with all of them.

I think it's a driver issue.

My GTX460 made Vanilla WoW ground textures like that untill they released their new drivers.

Nothing to worry about,Doubt it`s the driver,Crytek engine renders in passes, compared to other engines it might "notice",small frame rate drops.Nothing major, it can affect the reflection map so you actually get to see the others.Doubt that you need a Windows reinstall.
