It depends what you like. If you like RPGs go with Borderlands. If you liked the first L4D go with that. Or you can be like me and get both as a day one purchase. I am more excited for L4D2 though.

Havn't played the first one i was gonna get but the second one is coming so i thought just wait for it
Borderlands. I've been hyping the crap out of it since it was announced a few years ago. Left 4 Dead 2 is also very hyped by me too.
Borderland since I didn't play L4D nor following the sequel.
EDIT: sorry I didn't fully read the post. My answer would be to wait for reviews for both games and decide then.
I'll think I'll take a full game over DLC.dont-read-thisL4D2 is not DLC, it's a full game get over it already. I would get whatever game looks most interesting to you, personally I know I like L4D so I will be gegting L4D2 first most likely.
^^ *Shakes head*. Anyone who knows anything about L4D2 knows it's not a "mod". Get L4D 2. Borderlands looks like lots of fun but you simply can't beat the tried and tested formula of L4D. Unless of course you wait for reviews which would be the smartest idea.Um, full game over a mod.
Yeah I'll go ahead and get borderlands.

i remember when only a few people were excited about borderlands. i happened to be one of the few. but then i saw a gameplay footage, and the combat looked pretty bland. then the game's art style was drastically changed, and everyone became excited about borderlands. but i can't help remember that footage. the combat seems to have improved since the art style change, but i wonder if i'm just too heavily influenced by the way the game looks like most people seem to be. gearbox software hasn't made any games thus far that i would consider great, whether it'd be the hl1 expansions or the bia games. i have my doubts about borderlands, but i hope i'm wrong.
l4d2 doesn't look or feel all that different from l4d1, which isn't necessarily bad, but it does make me think i could be playing l4d1 instead of l4d2 and not miss out on much. the only thing i've heard about the game that excites me is the design of the maps, which (supposedly) forces players to keep moving instead of holing inside closets and corners when the horde comes pouring in. besides that, everything else seems pretty similar (and new weapons (melee included) and new boss monsters don't count).

Yea. Same Engine. Same Sound Effects. New Player Models&Weapons. 1 Year later.
No Thanks. Im not interested in spending full price for the same game again a year later when the first one is perfectly fine. Besides the novelty wore off after a couple months. Valve can Shove it for this Sell out to its Fans.

The new special monsters change the game alot. This is what made L4d a hit because of how unpreditable it was and the addition of new specials will make it even more random. My only hope is they make it easier to install Custom maps.^^ *Shakes head*. Anyone who knows anything about L4D2 knows it's not a "mod". Get L4D 2. Wow.. haha having a short developing time on one new title automatically makes you a sellout? Valve has already said why they couldn't release it at dlc over and over, they've obviously found a faster method and development process and are putting that into practice.
To say that Valve is a sellout because they haven't thrown all their original Left4Dead resources out the window and started from scratch on the development on Left4Dead 2 is completely ridiculous, why spend more money and time starting from scratch developing new sound effects/ zombie models when you've already got some that could just need a little tweaking to completely make them look different?
