What's with so many newer games say in the last 4 years. Some have such good graphics and character models. But when you kill something, the bodies disappear within 5 seconds. Most of the games I play have ragdoll effects. Pretty much any FPS or RPG has ragdoll effects now. Even some RTS have ragdoll and physics effects like Company of Heroes. I like when I blow up a ton of guys or something and the bodies go everywhere and they land in funny positions. I want to check them out, but they disappear so fast. It totally ruins the scene on some games. After wrecking havoc there's nothing left to see because the landscape or area goes back to normal. Lame, lame, lame. I wonder if I am the only one who gets annoyed by this.

It is a feature for optimization, it is harder on the computer to run with all sorts of bodies strewn about so they destroy them after a given amount of time to save performance. In many games the time this takes can be changed by a simple config edit, so instead of dissapearing after 5 seconds you could have it dissapear after say 99999 seconds. Look up to see if you can change the time in whatever game you are using.

Agreed. Bodies should stay. I remember how happy I was when I found the mod for Doom 3 that makes them stay. More games should have the option to turn it on/off in games in a simpler way than modding and changing .ini files and whatnot. Looking at everything you've killed is half of the enjoyment of killing.

I will have to check that out. I didn't think they would have an option for that.

See a lot of devs don't let people control these things because you end up with idiots that can't handle the setting, then they go complaining to the devs that the game is broken and it sucks.

For the better of everybody, they disappear

I think I agree with this, already tons of issues people have with a game, this would be sensible to remove from the table.

As well on any multi player platform, pretty much a must.

In some games it can be done, most games it can't; reason? graphic engine isn't capable of doing such things, rigs nowdays won't last with combo of nowdays graphics - imagine yourself Crysis map - bodies everywhere... or GTA4 - I bet your rig will run the game on 5 fps after killing 100 people

The only games that have disappearing bodies that I've played are COD like games, with infinite respawning enemies. But I agree, it totally breaks the immersion.

Yeah, it totally ruins the immersion when a body just disappears in front of you. What annoys me even more is when you can't disable the crosshair and HUD.

that's why i like the stalker games. when you kill a dude in the beginning of the game that corpse stays there all the way through the game up until the end. it's a pretty impressive engine.

You need to play the total war series. This has always been one of my favorite parts of the series the bodies stay no matter how many there are.

With Mount & Blade Warband you can setup in the option menu how many bodies will stay. They should have that in more games.

Yea, any game that doesn't let you adjust the ragdoll decay length loses points with me instantly, unless the bodies sit around for a good minute or two by default.

I installed it yesterday. Not a fan of the game but it does have the bodies! Very cool for an RTS I must say.
