Apparently Gearbox want two dips of the pie by developing separate DLC from the Season pass.

If you want more BL2 you'll have to fork out extra on top of the Season Pass

"We will have other, non-season pass related DLC. The additional character (Mechromancer) is one kind of example," Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford said in aKotakuQ&A. "The Borderlands 2 team is fired up at the moment. Customer love for the game is driving us wild - making us want to do more and more stuff. So, expect that there will be even more beyond the big Campaign DLC"

All the more reason for me to wait until the GOTY version hits. This DLC business is getting rather shady, if you ask me.

Scummy practice if you ask me. They didnt say this until after they started selling the season pass. I bet everyone who bought it thought they were getting all DLC for BL. For 2/3 the price of the game it should be all DLC.

The season pass will probably include new campaigns only. Other DLC stuff could be gameplay add-ons, such as new classes. Considering they did say the season pass was for 4 add on campaign from now till June, this doesn't suprise me.

Season Pass is all campaign stuff, missions, etc.. like BL1

THe new character you get for free if you preordered the game, I bet any other DLC will just be cosmetic type stuff for people who want to pay for extras.

Wow, that's EA-level scummy. What the hell are you doing, Gearbox?

That's generally how season passes tend work. Don't see why Gearbox would do it any differently.

Well those people can't read then because the season pass clearly states that you'rre getting access to four campaign add-ons. No where does it say "You get all the DLC"

Yup these game companies are getting rediculous. Its just better to wait these days and get everytime in one shot later when steam does a big sale. But luckily for these companies alot of people have too much cash and lack of patience.

Wow do any of yall actually read and try to educate yourselves on the situation before you start criticizing the company?!?

The Season Pass description: "Cant get enough Borderlands 2? Grab the Borderlands 2 Season Pass and get access to four downloadable content packs for Borderlands 2 at one discounted price"

There is no foul play or shady business going on, the Season Pass clearly states it's just for the 4 DLC content packs and anyone who bought it without reading that is at fault, not the company.

I think you're confusing legality with ethics. Sure, what they are doing is certainly legal. But I bet you that when people realize they effectively spent 80 bucks on one game, and suddenly it turns out that wasn't even enough to get all the content for it, they will be upset. And they have a right to.

Exactly. I don't care how well the explain what you're getting, the whole DLC practice is bullsh!t, and is ruining the industry. I was actually considering getting BL2, soon. But ya know what? Screw them, if that's how they're gonna do things. If I'm still interested in a year or so, I'll pick up the complete/GOTY edition for like 20 bucks on steam next summer. Or just pirate it. F*** DLC.

wow. didn't this game just release? seems like there's more content going up for sale (in the coming months) than there is on the actual game. thank christ i didn't buy this. otherwise i'd just be left out if i wanted to play co-op without any DLC.

i'm not even confident in getting the goty version of this, if they're so adamant on pumping out paid content like a preteen spewing his first several batches.

Definitely agreed on the GOTy edition part. That is when you truly get the max value out of a game IMO.

I'm enjoying Borderlands 2 as it is for now and haven't gone for the Season Pass. I'll wait to see what the additional content is, but in all likelihood end up waiting for the inevitable Steam sale, and either get them really cheap, or rebuy the whole thing as GOTY for cheaper - of course assuming the extra content looks decent or worthwhile.

I don't think you know what unethical means...they are selling all 4 DLC story packs as a bundle for a discounted price to those that want to buy them all. They clearly state this in the product description. It's a great deal if you want to play the DLC's as soon as they come out.

The idiot who shells out $30 without reading what he's buying has NO right to be upset.

Wow who new optional content that you don't have to buy would make people so angry?

I agree some DLC is just BS and a cash grab but Gearbox delieverd some quality DLC with BL1 that I happily payed for, I'd imagine the DLC for BL2 will be solid as well.

But hey if you need to justify stealing the game to ease your conscience then go ahead and keep getting angry about having the option to purchase addons.

I don't think it's a good thing but Gearbox certainly aren't alone with it. Darksiders 2 and Saints Row 3 do the same so I've been told. I think some clarity needs to be given. The season pass doesn't actually tell you what you'll get, just 4 packs. Nor does it say how many future DLCs are coming. I think they need to come up with a new name, season pass is just not an appropriate term for it. Call it borderlands big 4 or something. Despite the description I believe the name is deceptive marketing.

I bought season pass. I loved everything about BL1, so i am happy with season pass purchase. I'm saving money this way assuming each DLC is the usual $15.

I probably wont do the season pass nor buy any DLC until it is either bundled or on a steam sale. Ive only ever bought 1 piece of DLC and that was only because the game went F2P and i felt it was worth while.

I'm not concerned about the double dipping because I don't really see it as that per se. Their base game has enough content to warrant the original price tag and the additional classes and campaigns won't phase me much because I'll most likely have moved on to one of the many other titles I have yet to finish this year alone. If players are so upset about the DLC driven distribution of content, it's amazing they're still gamers tbh.
