I dont know about you but I didnt think Id like this game when I first started considering it but after getting it on Steam it really is fun. And getting it for so cheap only makes it that much sweeter. Started out as a Hunter. I love sniping. The shotguns are pretty cool too.

How many hrs in? I thought it was fun at first also, but the lack of story or any reason really to continue made me stop playing. This may have been fun with friends, but I am a solo gamer and have to 1 man my stuff. None of my real life friends play video games. Graphics are great, gun play is also great, but not really engaging as a single player campain, just MO

The game is atleast twice as good in online co-op, just start from level 1 with a friend, trust me, it's worth it. You can just tell the game is designed for 2 people.

give it 30 hours...it won't be fun. Not even in short spurts.

Games like those should be fun for thousands of hours, for 30 minutes or 4 hours at a time.

Borderlands just is not.

I agree. I can see why it may get dull after a while especially in single player mode... some of the missions feel like a chore to do. But it's pretty crazy in coop. We're going through the coop now. Sometimes though, we skip ahead to areas where enemies are two or three levels higher of us to make things intense. We also have the Underdome DLC which is pretty fun and can be brutal. ...so many guns to choose from. When my friend isn't online, I just back track to some areas with red chests to find some rare loot.

I'm on my 4th playthrough. Got a siren to 50 back when it was released, after the Steam sale a month or two ago my friend bought it and I'm leveling a Soldier now with him (he has a Hunter). Once we hit 50 we are going to run the DLC together.

Have to say I like my Siren a lot better than my Soldier, probably goign to switch back once my friend hits 50. I get knocked down a lot on my soldier and good CRs are hard to find. My Siren never gets knocked down, has crazy shield and regen, and is far more deadly.

So yeah, I like Borderlands :P Only thing I dislike is SOOOO... much crap to wade through, good upgrades are very few and far between.

did you play solo or co-op?

i logged over 1,000 hrs... evidently, i'm either easily amused (not) or a waste of life. :(

It's not fun if you're alone. There isn't much of a story to motivate. With friends, though, Borderlands is like a whole other kind of social and virtual experience.

It's infinitely more fun if you play with friends. I tried to solo a hunter once. I got him to level 26 and never played him again.

Gets boring fast, the challenges become rather repetitive, even when playing online with friends it becomes rather tiring.

Again - Borderlands starts off a lot of fun, but gradually loses its appeal and you can't be bothered to go back to it unless someone you know gets it and wants to try multiplayer. anyway for the recent Steam price you can't complain and should easily get value for money from it before you get bored.

I thought it was fun for the first few hours and then ran into boredom.

I don't understand why really, I mean the game consisted of a plot of find a stash full of treasures and weapons......to get there you had to shoot things with creative guns....but to get those guns you needed to do side missions to make money....

Ok after thinking about it, the only main reason to continue to play this game was to get better and more interesting guns and to me, that should never been the main sell for a game.

Got it on release and have played off and on since then. The game can be fun, some of the audio is hilarious (like when you light a Raider on fire :D) - taken in small chunks the game play is pretty fun, but I can't see spending long periods of time on it [thats personal opinion] in a single sitting. The controls do irritate me at times, it is a holdover from the fact that (despite whatever Gearbox has stated) the game is ported from the console version instead of vice versa. It gets really annoying that sometimes you can use the LMB for sections where it says [Press ENTER] and others you can't, or some areas you can use the mouse scrollwheel and others you must use Pg Up/Pg Down. Once I forced myself to forget about those type of inconsistancies I enjoyed the game a bit more. MP was soured for me early on - don't have any local friends w/ the game and the ability to royally screw over others gameplay w/ some local file editing just made me annoyed w/ the whole thing. Joining the wrong game could mess up your save by adding modded weapons [stuff that was OP to the max] or increasing your inventory/weapon slots far beyond intended. Just by joining an MP game :/ [Sure, the solution to "host yourself" would work if you can rely on your net connection - not so much when you can't] Just reinstalled it recently in fact and am going through it again :)

fully agree.... I got about 30 hrs before I was bored to tears with it. Saying that though, 30 hrs for a game these days is pretty long.... Personally I think they needed a master server holding loot items, a loot game where you can just edit in your own weapon stats and even share them online just kills it for me.

30 hours is long...for an offline game.

for a multiplayer-focused offering, I expect months of gametime, not a couple weeks.

And yea, the "hackers" kind of killed it for me. As did the atmosphere, the whole Mad Max'ish wasteland is just overused and stale.

I really do like it so far...The story is a little weak granted and the missions do feel a little...uninspired however I do love the enemies and some of the things they say/ way they act. I can see myself playing it a lot more then trying to online play. I picked it up shortly before the steam sale but am not upset I payed the higer price...I think it will be worth it.
