How is borderlands compared to DA:O?Borderlands = better gameplay (IMO)
Fallout 3 = Better and MUCH deeper story

i played fallout 3 and i gotta say it's a great single player experiance, especially DLCs. I'm getting Borderlands this friday, maybe single player is not as great like in Fallout 3, but the multiplayer is fun and very addictive. =]

ths singleplayer in borderlands is still amazin. though, i played BLs online dependin what mood i was in i think. if i didnt want to rush, i played single, and if i wasnt assed i played online.

Ehm completely different? How can you compare a FPS with an RPG? Which is better is more up to taste. Which do you prefer, sadistic bloodshed or a deep storyline?
Very similar? They are both first person RPGs, but even then, very different RPGs, and very different first person combat. They have little to nothing in common.gotta admit these games are very similar......but for some reason i couldnt get into Fallout like ive got into Borderlands...anyone else feel the same here?

Simply deep story for me.Whats why i especially like bioware's RPG.[QUOTE="hobojoe82"]Very similar? i dont understand how you dont find em similar? both FPS, both RPGs, both post apocolyptic style worlds, both brutal?

Well, Borderlands hasn't much of a story. Really more of an excuse for the bloodshed, you can ignore the story and you won't be missing much.
DA:O now is the complete opposite. All story really.
You know which one you want, don't you? :)
Well, I've never played Borderlands, and Fallout seem as a good game. Has a great storyline, it kinda' sucks you in. Only bad thing is that I don't like games that are ahead of our time. I prefer old, ancient times, like Oblivion. Just hoping that DA:O won't disappoint.

Well, Borderlands is more than an FPS than Fallout3, since Fallout 3's actual FPS elements were worse than almost any FPS in existence. RPG-wise, they are different kinds of RPGs. Borderlands is a Diablo-esque RPG, where as Fallout 3 is more like a heavily dumbed down Fallout 2. Borderlands isn't Post Apocalyptic. And I don't get what you mean by Brutal.[QUOTE="Zillaschool"] Simply deep story for me.Whats why i especially like bioware's RPG. UnionOfV

I dunno, I think Borderlands managed to flesh out the history of the world really well. The actual main plot-line is rather unimpressing though, I admit.Well, I would still disagree. Borderlands looks and feels a LOT different from Fallout 3. Fallout 3 looks like a destroyed city. Borderlands looks like a world that was never built up properly to begin with. And as for how it feels? That largely to me is impacted by the story, and all the fleshing out of Borderland's plot helps dig in the idea that Pandora was never civilised. It has always been a wasteland inhabited by adventurers, bandits and corporations. Fallout 3 never really fleshes the world out much, but because of the previous games you can tell the history of the world.by brutal i mean violent. and post apocolyptic style i said, asin how it looks and feels whilst playing it.

I prefer Borderlands :) Fallout 3 was a pretty good game overall, but the actual combat was pretty bad, and it ruined a lot continuity-wise coming from Fallout 2.yes i can understand wot your sayin and you have very valid points.i have never played the 1st fallouts so i wouldnt know about that. you still havent said which you prefer though?

yeah i agree with you there, all though at 1st i was like "wow this is a different way of shooting". But then it just got dull.

It wasn't that bad, good enough to keep me enjoying it for 2 play throughs including the first 3 DLC's.
these two games are indeed similiar, or more precisely, they are all too familiar. both take inspirtation from original Fallouts. Since Beth manages to create a fallout world that's deplete of the wicked charm of orginial fallout, I never see Fallout 3 as part of Fallout universe.
Borderlands take the action RPG route; not as deep as original fallouts role-playing wise, but nontheless extremely addictive. most importnatly, it gets the combat right: pure and simple FPS styIe. Fallout 3 on the other hand, is inadequate in both role-playing and combat.
currently inside borderlands, with the first forbidden weapon I find...from time to time, especially when watching the death of baddies, I almost think that I'm playing a 3D fallout game.
I still say they don't share much in common, although I admit it isn't hard to make the jump from uncolonised wasteland to post-apocalyptic wasteland. And I agree that sometimes Borderlands felt kinda Fallout-ish moreso than Fallout 3 did. I remember thinking to myself around half-way through it when some of the really goofy humour starts "This is how funny Fallout 3 SHOULD have been." Because Borderlands is quite a funny game, surprised me really. It also made me think "Someone should make an Invader Zim game." 'cause Claptrap is totally just a clone of Gir.these two games are indeed similiar, or more precisely, they are all too familiar. both take inspirtation from original Fallouts. Oh for petes sake, FO and BL are indeed very similar. More similar than different. That said, FO is 50/50 RGP/FPS while BL is 25/75 RPG/FPS. Both games are good.
Differences:
FO feels apocoliptic while BL feels more like im running around in Texas.
BL has coop which is very fun. FO is single player.
Due to its small size, BL is extremely repetivie especially if play it more than once.
FO has a deeper customization.
FO has a ton more content.
Similarities:
Both stories were not very interesting.
Dismemberment remains entertaining no matter how much you see it... they both have it.
Simplified RPG elements (compared to RPGs like NWN)
Both reuse the same enemies over and over all through the game. FO has a slight edge in variety but still gets old.
If you have friends and family that are willing to play with you, Borderlands is better choice. If you plan to play alone, FO wins hands down. Both games are great and worth the price... and this is coming from a really cheap gamer. I dont usually pay full price for anything.

Very similar?
Believe me, besides the wasteland theme, they have absolutely nothing to do with each other. And Fallout 3 beats Borderlands fair and square and big (huge!) time!
And Fallout 1 and 2 eat Fallout 3 for dinner, breakfast and whatever more.
On the other hand, if coop is your thing, get Borderlands. Warning to the wise: the most boring SP ever!

i highly disagree, I bought my copy of Borderlands last Friday and played it SP and MP, they are both fine end entertaining. SP is not THAT boring, although it's true that the game is more fun with more people around. =]Very similar?

You should go with Fallout 3.It has a lot of game-improving mods like FOOK2 (www.fookunity.com) and Marts Mutant Mod (just look it up at www.fallout3nexus.com,you will find tons of other mods there).

I agree with this. Borderlands was pretty fun for its two playthroughs, but beyond that it doesn't have much lasting appeal, at least until DLC arrives. Also, the story, which for me is quite an important component in any RP-esque game, is sorely lacking. Fallout 3 I found much more immersive (better than BL anyways) and, hence, replayable. With the DLCs (just get the GoTY edition) and the fantastic modding community, the game's taken quite a chunk out of my life.

Same here. I am really liking Borderlands. Its just really fun, and the artwork/graphics are really a very nice touch.
