Steam is having a sale today and both of those games are a sweet deal. They're both co-op and both rated within 3 points of Steam's rating system. Can anyone recommend which game I should get thanks!

It's pretty fun. I played the entire game co-op with strangers so I could imagine with friends it would be more fun :P

In my opinion it doesn't have a better single player with more story, well, it might have MORE story, doesn't mean it's better story.

i just dont like the fact that borderland quests seem to be very similar to eachother and when you try to join other peoples games online you have to hope their ports are open (not sure if they fixed this yet haven played in about 2 months or so)

Honestly everyone i heard talking about borderlands singleplayer. user or critic, they all said that the singleplayer aspect is not that good, that its lackster in story and singleplayer solo player quality. If anything re5 has more npc interactions/ slash cutscenes and explanations than borderlands that is mostly quests and mostly killing enemies to level up. The game pretty much lacks in game characters and the feeling that there is a point on what you doing or an explanation from what happened. Also if you dont play with friend 24/7 the game starts to feel lonely with the lack of dialogues or cutscenes that give the characters some backstory, opinions. ideas.

RE5 will feel boring and clunky unless you play co-op with a friend.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you Dakan, and agree with Jango. RE5's partner AI was abysmal, and the game itself was like Resident Evil 4, only slightly worse. And the mechanics have not aged well in the slightest, especially as they took all the survival-horror out of it, so it is now just a fairly generic third person shooter that fails to deliver on the "shooter" side of things. The co-op made it significantly more enjoyable, as having two players almost made up for the bad design choices in the gameplay and level design.

Borderlands, even singleplayer, offers up a fantastic first-person experience that feels like a good blend of Diablo-elements and FPS-elements. Playing multiplayer DOES improve the experience, but single player is great fun aswell.

I agree that ai is a mess but the easy non survival gameplay makes up for the trouble you might get thanks to the bad ai, therefore i did not care. So maybe ai is a mess but its better than not having one. Also there are nice character cutscenes. I think the levels are fine, well compared to re4 atleast. Also graphics>cellshaded for me therefore i cant say i like the brown borderlands levels more. Borderlands felt pretty empty singleplayer wise, i am not saying its not fun, but after a while it gets borring to level up all the time alone without any story or characters to talk too. A Left for dead style ai wouldnt hurt, especially after all those years in development. Seriously, this whole thing started by simply saying my opinon an providing a simple reason without going to any crazy details. I had no intention of that happening and i bet it wouldnt if i said "borderlands" like the rest of the forum. Jeez, i merelly pointed out the obvious that eg: cod4 had more story and better characters to fight by yourside while far cry 2 singleplayer and story are pretty meh plus it lacks allied characters to play with. As you see here i just pointed out that cod 4 was a better singleplayer experiance for me because it had more story. However FC2 fans like myself will immediatly point out that FC2 had better gameplay due to the worldmap and non linear missions, just like you pointed out about the whole fps-diablo gameplay, which i dont find that great like most people dont find FC2 gameplay elements that great either!!! Opinions....you gotta love em :)

Good thing that 1) Borderlands isn't Brown, especially compared to RE5. and 2) Neither of those games are Cel Shaded.

I'd say go with borderlands if you're looking for a unique multiplayer experience. Just don't try playing it in single player mode (it will get boring really fast). It was designed from the ground up to be a multiplayer - not singleplayer - experience. Definately make sure you a) have a decent internet connection and b) a decent router and know how to forward ports - before you buy it (at least for the PC version).

Go with RE5 - if you're looking for a decent co-op game with a meaty single-player campaign (and story-line). The gameplay might feel a bit old if you have played RE 4 though.

Both aren't that impressive to me. Borderland is not secured enough (hacked levels, skill points, customized guns), while RE5 is not the same Resident Evil most fans loved (feels like Gears of War if any).

TBH After 10 hours of borderlands it bored the hell outta me. Maybe your experience will be better but I cannot pull myself to play this game anymore. My brother got RE5 but im thinking im not gonna like this one much eather.

Thank god I got Batman while I had the chance.
