I am going to purchase dual 8800gts cards hopefully from ebay or somewhere. Then a 1000watt psu. Only paid €600 which is about $862

Well overall its not bad for a dell, but you should get rid of that Aegia physx card and one of 8600GTS's(use the one 8600GTS as a physx card) and you should pick up a more powerful gpu and you would be set for gaming. Like a GTS 250 or whatever your budget allows.

Wow, thats not a good deal at all. Dont bother with a 1000w PSU, its poinltess and that video card upgrade will do nothing to improve performance. Sorry but it looks like you got ripped off pretty badly.

It's one of the best bang for your buck cards right now, And you only need to get a good 600w psu.

OK, ignore all the n00bs and tools in this thread, they don't even have a CLUE what they are talking about.

First it looks liek you really did not take the time to research your parts and what would be best, before making the decision.

You bought 3 harddrives..why? 500 gig should last you forever.

Your CPU will not last for years(a brand new computer should), its very budget-like, i was just researching that to see if i was going to buy it as an upgrade, because right now they are selling the CPU for 60 -80 bucks on newegg.com

2 DVDRW drives? why? 1 should be fine.

4 gig ddr2, should be fine for the next 1-2 years.

you should ask for a refund, say you did not know what you are buying, say it wasn't what you wanted, do not accept them trying to charge you some restocking fee.

Get rid of the 3 harddrives, just have 1, same with DVD drives. The only things that matter are your cpu, gpu, and ram. Infact i was just looking at a barebone kit on newegg for 230$ which included a 500 gig hd, i believe 4 gigs of corsiar ddr2, and actually I think the CPU they were offering was .4 gigs (quad)faster than what you ordered. The only thing you'd have left is the gpu to worry about, and they are selling a 1 tb nvidia card for like 40-50 bucks , dell is selling it themselves, or you can go to your nearest retailer and find it.

also note, i bought my computer 3 years ago, and it still is better than your gpu and cpu, to put in perspective of how much you got ripped off.

lets see, buy an overpriced GTX460 card that just was released 6 months ago and marketters are trying hard to push it out the door with a huge price tag,or buy an entire barebone kit for 100 bucks more, and have a fully functional computer that runs brand new games fine and dandy... hrmmmm just don't know whats the better option.

google it yourself , and yes gtx460 is overpriced, its brand new, not even a year old. There is no reason to buy one , no new games have required more than the hardware specs of a 360 , unless you plan on going into crysis and stare at the floor for 5 hours a day like most graphic whoringcircle jerks end up.

At max settings with full AA & HBAO my 5850 only manages 65FPS, and thats only at 1440x900. The GTX460 isnt as powerful as my video card so I hardly see how its overkill. Anyway despite what you think the GTX460 is a GREAT choice for a gamer and offer fantastic price/performance.

So, A GTX 460 is overpriced in what way? you can pick one for $180. Why buy a slower gpu when you can get a faster one that allows better resolutions and graphics then what the consoles provide. And there are plenty of Pc games that can use that extra power even with Multiplatform games.

Oh wow, seriously some kid who just signed up for his account in Aug 4, 2010 is trying to say i have no idea what i'm talking about?

GG on that FSAA x 8 playing multiplats, its a joke of a feature and never really properly coded into the game, theywaste resources and barely change the look of the game since it is alldesigned for a console.

Excuse me while i go play brand new games at 60 fps, while you chug on cards 4x as powerful because you do not know how to utilize it properly.

So if a card its older its better. For $180 you cant go better than a GTX460. If thats to much then there is the good old 5770 for about $140 Going for an older card as powerfull as the gtx460 you cant find one for less than $200 ( aka gtx285 and still not as fast as the gtx460 ). So no reason for that price point to go anything other than the gtx460 or maybe a 5830 for slightly cheaper Sure some older cards like the 4890 and 4870 offer a great performance for less but saying the gtx460 is overpriced its far fetched As for new games not requiring more than 360 specs are you kidding me. Try playing metro 2033 on 360 and then on a Pc with a 4870 or a better card. Difference in graphics huge. Also no way in hell an ati x1900xt ( which is about what the 360 has ) can pull of metro 2033 in anything other than low ( amybe 1-2 medium ) settings Also there are other demanding games as well. Crysis, Arma 2, Bad company 2 ( a proper pc port ) and napoleon total war are some

I still fail to see how the GTX460 is "old" and "overpriced"

EVGA 768-P3-1360-TR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card = $170 and beats the 5770 with a wopping more 10fps in crysis at 1680 by 1050

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/172?vs=156

Bench it against other cards and see for yourself.

No sli bridge for the cards, you can only sli the same model cards. So Get the GTX 460 then use one of the 8600GTS as a physx card and remove the other 8600 and aegia card.

Pre-builts are completely rip-off. You should've order the parts then pay someone to build it for you in any nearest computer store. You could've save money plus you don't have to worry about the case size, and pre-builts usually lock their motherboard so no overclocking....

"gmaster" you need to learn how to read a thread

to the tool who cannot google for a barebone kit, youre just looking for easymode way of not retorting clear and concise valid reasoning why you should not buy a gtx460

If you cannot run any of the newest games on a single gtx460 at a locked 60+ fps with all options on full, you are seriously doing it wrong. It should not be 2 cards and it only running at a "respectable" rate ,

What is this guy smoking? Seriously... are you arguing with hundreds of review sites and users of the 460? If you think 170 dollars is overpriced then you must be tripping. - - - Buy the 460 and you will be set. Like the other guy said use that 8600 as a Physx card.

Kratier takes my budget approach to PC gaming to new (albeit, excessively aggressive) heights.

Seriously, just let the dude get a GTX 460, it's a great card for its money. $180 is not going to blow up the bank.

Also, your "google it yourself" counter arguments are not advised. If you believe you have contradictory evidence, you have to show it. Nobody is going to prove your argument for you but yourself. In the meantime, you're just going to look like an arrogant, know it all prick.

no the 460 IS overpriced. If all the 460 can beat the ati 5750 by is 10 fps then it isnt worth the extra $50-60. Either wait till the price comes down a bit or buy a cheaper card. An ATI 5750 can be found for around $120 now and also they have rebates on it. If you prefer nvidia I would recommend either a geforce 9800 or a geforce 250 both of which are excellent cards.

10 fps is a pretty significant amount. Its the difference between playable and un-playable. I am talking about the 20 to 30 gap by the way. I paid 220 for my 260 back in the day and that wasn't even expensive in my mind. Also I am a 21 year old adult with a car payment and bills, I take offense to you saying I am 13 and work at McDonalds. I work hard for everything I have as do others on this forum. So Google that!

[QUOTE="MonsieurX"]

[QUOTE="Kratier"]OK, ignore all the n00bs and tools in this thread, they don't even have a CLUE what they are talking about

actually I think the CPU they were offering was .4 gigs (quad)faster than what you ordered. The only thing you'd have left is the gpu to worry about, and they are selling a 1 tb nvidia card for like 40-50 bucks , dell is selling it themselves, or you can go to your nearest retailer and find it.

I loled.

The 2x320 gb HDD must be in raid 0

You heard him, we are tools who don't have a CLUE! I must say though, that 1tb VRAM video card sounds tasty :D

Oh yes, indeed, such tools we are.

Kratier is trolling, no sane person would try so hard to be right when they are clearly in the wrong. Anyway, to the TC, I honestly cannot fathom how you paid almost $900 for THAT. Return it immediately and do more research before you buy next time, you obviously don't know as much about computers as you think you do.

no the 460 IS overpriced. If all the 460 can beat the ati 5750 by is 10 fps then it isnt worth the extra $50-60. Either wait till the price comes down a bit or buy a cheaper card. An ATI 5750 can be found for around $120 now and also they have rebates on it. If you prefer nvidia I would recommend either a geforce 9800 or a geforce 250 both of which are excellent cards.

you are a crazy troll, go away... please anyways, to answer the question, yes, you got ripped off, and if i were you id take that $900 and build a new one that is actually not made with 3-4 year old parts.
