Just curious to see what people's brand preferences are, and if there was one brand they tend to look for when they're buying electronics? I was also curious to see if there was any brands that you tend to stay away from, or have had bad experiences with? I had a 26in LG monitor that only lasted me 1 year, so I was a little timid of purchasing that brand, but so far my LG cellphone has worked well (crosses fingers).

Its not really about brand preference. When I buy a pruduct I do lots of research with reviews, and going in to forums and reading what other people's experience have been with said pruduct. It all just comes down on who makes the better product for what your looking for. Dell is a good brand though, I dont even own a dell monitor, but I have always heard good things about them.

This; remember that one arm of a company does not necessarily indicate quality products in another arm. Sony makes amazing televisions, yet their car audio products are laughably bad. Sharp is known to be a low-cost electronics manufacturer, yet their microwaves are consistently top-rated. You have to look at each product on its own merit. Boz

You could get a 200 watt Alpine amp that would give you more strength, and clarity, then a 1000 Sony Explode Amp. I do have a 46in Sony Bravia LCD which has been running strong for over 5 years now and still has a perfect picture. Boz

I've got some brands I tend to favour more than others

Asus and Corsair for PC parts

Ilyama and Viewsonic for monitors

Sony and Panasonic for general electronics

There are other companies I'd like to buy stuff from but they're generally out of my price range, like Lynn for audio gear for instance

I do always check reviews and write ups for anything I'm buying and I'm not in anyway hooked on any one company, you wouldn't think it from my PC in my sigthough ;)

I also prefer different electronics for different divisions. For instance, I prefer Sony, or Toshiba for my tvs, but for car audio I prefer Kenwood, or Alpine. I think if you have a positive experience early on from a certain company, then you tend to stick with that company, which leads to brand loyalty. It also back fires when you have a negative experience. I had a 26in LG monitor that only lasted one year, then just decided to quit. So I tend to shy away from LG electronics, although my LG cellphone has worked fine so far.
