so its been a while since iv been posting here iv neglected my pc for a year now..... a couple of years ago i built this rig, its a dfi lanparty nF4 motherbaord socket 939 w/ a AMD 64 3500+, 7800gtx, w/ 2 gigs of ram, the powersupply i had in it burned out, and my hard drive died. i have an HP laptop, and i got a 360 so i forgot about my pc for about a year using the hp as a reg. computer and my 360 to play vid. games. a few weeks ago i decided to find time to revive my pc, i got a new soundcard a creative one, and vista w/ a fresh new little hard drive, and its back and running great...but i see times done some damage on my pc. the 7800gtx has been outdated, and im not rolling w/ the dual core cpu....what do you guys think i should do to catch up, get an 8 series? say a x2 4200 off new egg for cheap? i'm pretty sure i can run games like bioshock on at least medium settings......how far back am i?

man your PC insent bad at all I have an AMD 2500 overclocked to 3200 at 3.2GHZ, with a nvidia 7600GT, and a gig of ram, I can play bioshock, medal of honor airbourne, ETQW, command and conquor 3 and many other games at max settings and it never drops below 28FPS.

with that rig you'll be fine until the end of the year or even abit longer, the 7800GTX is allmost one of the fastest DX9 cards, and will run crysis at medium settings or even at max if you turn of AA and set the resolution to 800X600, plus that 2GB of ram will rock.

you shouldent be concernded about upgrading right now, though if there is anything you'd wanna upgrade its the processer still though its not a bad processer really.

stick with what you got nvidia is going to be realsing there new 8800 GT soon wich isquite cheaper then the 8800 GTS and is allmost as fast.

so for now hold of upgrading the video card, if there is anything you wanna upgrade the processer is really the only thingpeople would say to upgrade though you'd need to find out if you modo/motherboard supports dual core CPUs
