Due to my 3-3.5 year old mobo finally kicking the can I'm in the market for a power supply (old one is 350w), new ram, a new vid card, a new cpu and (obviously) a new mobo. The problem is I only have 500 bucks to spend on these said parts. What are the best options available, if there are any, for decent gaming?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103472
because i heard the Q8300 Actuatly underperfor Against Q6600 G0 Stepping 3.6ghz Overclock even if you overlcock Q8300
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2009/01/08/amd-phenom-ii-x4-940-and-920-review/6
and that Q6700 is Better by a Small margin tough if you overlcock Phenom II 920 2.8ghz to 3.2ghz / 3.4Ghz i heard it stable and offer quite a boost

Black edition of Phenom II ? yes but take more money
else phenom II arctireu rip appart all Phenom x4 which is Phenom I : the Phenom II Is Superior in every Aspect point of Previous Series
just like a E6600 25% Overclocked (such as 3.2GHZ) get shallowed by a Q6600 3.0ghz on every aspect of Games / Tasking Or Like how the E8500 Eat The E5200
They are just no comparison : One is made for cheap budget with low L2 cache and great Overclock abiltiy as well

But no match against the huge E8400/E8500 that Overclock Even better as Well : so in a word E5200 Own Every Socket Am2 Series reffering to Amd Athelon X2 Socket am2 As AMD 7750x2 / 6400x2 Black Edition but get Eaten by Am2+ (phenom X4) : That does get Eaten by E7200 Overclock + in vast majority of games
then Phenom II : Can enter the match with E8400 as suprisng as it can be.
But I would still recommend E8400 for save money : 155$ VS : 180-200$ (cough cough)
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2009/01/08/amd-phenom-ii-x4-940-and-920-review/6

in resumption we get this food Chart : X2 : Eat Low End Core Duo :Phenom X4 : eat Struggle Low Budget Series If Overclocked Extremely :
Phenom II : Struggle With Q6600 3.2 to 3.8ghz (dangerous) the 3.8ghz but is performed on benchmark or Better Quad And Dual core of E7200 with a 3.3ghz Overclock around Tough it may not sound as easy as this ;) Beacuse Phenom II newest cpu will oppen a new hope
to defeat The mighty Q9650 3.0ghz : The All-round CPU Of history Before core i7: that was 550$ : now : 320$
it was all round does of it was possibltiy overclock of 4.0ghz with Water cooling and there for Chalalign the E8500 4.0Ghz Overclocked in 90% of game
on 1920x1200 / 2560x1600 resolution because : 4 CPU FSB 1333mhz with 12 meg cache was Better then 2 : cpu FSB 1333mhz With 6meg of Cache :

So I guess WE should have a Disccusion ? phenom II ? + A cheap and Good AMD motherboard ? or E8400 + An Asus P45

(we now entering a bit off-topic But Still related to processor)
How ever Getting Q9650 at 4.0ghz isn't just as : put the cpu an dinsert it may need to have high voltage and risk : on air : but much less risky on Water cooling as far i heard topic of those : that Q9650 is Defeating as well is Sibling Q9450 / Q9550 / Q9650 And Defeat Is Oldest Cousin Q6600 Series And Q8300 Series For Lot of reason higher Cache : 45nm : Better architure in all the conception also So Better FPS

i don't know m uch about the Techicnal aspect of a cpu that beside L2 Cache don't mean everthing as : lot of game With E8400 : Overlcocekd at 3.6ghz was a extremley powerfull cpu cathcing to stock Q9750X Of 1200$ And even if the Qx9750 Was Overclock it wasn't far supperior of Q9650 For Both Gaming / Task managing But It was only does of ghz Limitation in there quad core that i belive that If Q9550 Could not have a huge superriory over E8400 that what i belive

But Better Then E8400-E8500 In Task Control and other thread Exigent Software as it as 4 Core : When you do control all delete you see all those Thread that handles when selection Addiotnal Colums as Well the VM size they use (Aka Physic memory Know as DDR ram)
such as msn use : generaly 80,000K VM = 80meg

but now core i7 is the king of all : It cost more tough : it hardly doing to be done under a 780$ build just for the The motherboard & processoer & ram
Tough core i5 will lauch to offer alternative to maybe end the usage of Q9550 / Q9650 for 550-600$ build i don't have any info of Core i5 Pre-benchmark yet
It can go in a long Disccusion about this as Lot of thing as to be Discuss over all this talking tough it what i heard of the history of pc.

Thanks a lot Matchpro (and everyone else as well). I have a question though..If I overclock the core 2 duo you reccomended with the cheap intel mobo you also reccomended, would it provide more power than overclocking a Phenom II 920 with the asus micro atx mobo that was reccomended earlier?

EDIT: Are you sure the video card you reccomended will run ok? MANY reviewers are complaining about overheating and bad drivers...

Yes in most of the game overall fps YES example 920 3.0ghz : Vs : E8400 3.6Ghz
tough i don't know if E8400 3.6ghz will be catch up nicely by 920 at 3.4ghz If it possible to reach that temp i know not much about overclocking
I'm just Reading what other read : and i'm pleased that my information where clear enough to you or some how
I try to be as Well Giving information and my poitn of view to everyone in order to increase my knowledge.
if i say so-meting that so wrong contradict me ?! il learn from my error You will all too. nothing is perfect Specialty Benchmark

for me a Benchmark that fit the Average Knowledge Level Should have over : 30 CPU PRESET :
example : E8400 from Stock to : 3.6ghz : VS Phenom II 920 From stock to Overcock : And Phenom 940 Stock to Overclock Vs Older Processor
as Q6600 Overclocked / and Stock / and Q8300 overclocked and stock but giving all those information would take time and money
but in the end help the Society to Assimilate the information and to then spread it to other people

give a man a fish he will have food for one-day : learn him to fish he will have fish all is life : if there are fish in the sea : the Quote is just a metaphors of logic
They are such for information and benchmark they could be the same who know. i'm not knowing everything so far i just know i use benchmark
and other people who know more then me and then spread what i know if it to help someone. Forum are made for this goal

How Ever Reading Dozen of benchmark will increase Benchmark if you are able to storage and interpret them right it not easy as 2+2 = 4 unfortunately
Else They Would be NO more pre-build pc And Forum would be almost meaningless and no serious discussion would exist what boring it would be.

all people would make How there own just like how you learn to make ur own house after educating the art of the architecture and woodCraft
the end of HP / DELL / ACER Could become why ? cause people like me who help made over : 90 pc on gamespot .DID that : multiplication it by Thousand ? (profit Lose even if it by 0.2% then 0.7% then 5%. then 20%
It stack because all Action as Consequence no matter what they are :D

and to think that if HP / DELL / ACER AS Lowered healvy they sold of pc is cause of forum like here is showing that It help the user not the business ;)
Business don't care about you'r money they give you overpriced and bad airflow case : Second Quality hardware for money
Vs you'r self making ur own as alway being the best option

even tough if some Stubborn people say : NO I Got 7000$! And that PC On ALienware WAS THE BEST I EVER boughhh (when you could ad same result at 2500-3500$ ... I'm not kidding tough about the 7000$ : I'm really Disgusted and numb by there price :(
and when peopel ike i want to buy this dell pc for 2500$ and as only the value of a 750$Build us on newegg.com it make me sick but it life

Yep but if in future you have more money and more income ;) Switch to a 650-750 wats if you build a newer pc in 2010-2011 : Also If you go Phenom II : you know that more Phenom II will be offer to upgrade as 950 /960 / 970 / 980 / 990 but it gamble as no benchmark where given i'm not god so i'm not omnipotent / omnisciene and i'm not perfect without information It 50/50 (Gamble) just like this Evil guy In Batman The Dark Knight : (TWO-FACE)

he Trow a Coin ? will you die ? will you live.. : (Face) You live. Let Trow it again see if you die. FAce ? you live too : : Oh unlucky.... you die ! ;) or some stuff.
I don't know much about Gambling i aint gambler beside i know it a irrationally thing to decide lot of thing in our world ;)

if you plan to keep it around for a while, AMD would be better as intel switches platforms every two years. Still, that is shaping up to be a decent machine. much better than the things you get from dell and that. go for a P2 rather than the original phenom. Its better in every respect

you can't be sure Asian_man no benchmark as yet being offered into Phenom II 950 3.1ghz / 960 3.2ghz / 970 3.3ghz / 980 3.4ghz / 990 3.5ghz and there peak elvel of overclock and performances i hope The Pheno II 990 3.5Ghz can get at lst 4.3GHZ with air overclocking then it would or destroy E8600 4.5Ghz ;) i belive
