I would try going for a AMD Phenom II Quad Core at what I believe is 3.4 Ghz only 130 dollars for that

The Core i3 2100 is actually pretty good for gaming (bench here). Just remember that it is only a dual core, so if you play games that take advantage of quad (like RTS games, some others), it may not be as good as some others. You could always upgrade to a quad core sandy bridge later, if one isn't in your budget now. Or you could save up another $100 to get an i5.

Phenom iix4 2.8 ghz $79.99 Use coupon EMCKCKB23

rosewill Blackbone Case $36.99 Use coupon EMCKCKC36

adata 2x2 4gb ram $33.99

Asrock Mobo $59.99

sony dvd drive burner etc.. $18.99

Rosewill 750watt psu $89.99

Western digital 500gb blue 39.99

AMD 6870 $174.99

Xigmatek Gaia Heatsink $29.99

Thats 564.99....

For 30 dollars more... replace the 2.8 ghz phenom iix4 with the Phenom iix4 955 use coupon code EMCKCJH24

That would bring the total to 599.99

You could also decide to go am3+ mobo and scale the power supply back to 620 watts or so and still get right at or under 600 dolllars. Just some options...

Just giving you some suggestions.. Do some more research. I was simply trying to get you within yourbudget.

For example... You could go with the phenom iix4 2.8 ghz, drop down to the Antec 620 watt psu $69.99 and with the savings go with say the Asus am3+ mobo $94.99. That would allow you a major upgrade option in the future as AMD will release new cpu's sometime soon in the future.

You can play all kind of games like this to get exactly what you want. Its just exactly whatever you trying to go for.

The asrock mobo will not me any issue. I have 8 of them and use them for budget builds for customers but like all electronics... DOA's are still possible whatever piece of hardware you get. I personally like asrock as they are in essence Asus with even better prices (asus is the parent company to asrock)..

please dont buy the 5570..its my request!!!its sad to say but its the most horrible card ive seen from ATI.even the 4650 ddr2 handles stuffs better.get a 6850 or a 5770.i dont think you should get the 6870 because its not worth the extra price.the 6850 is the sweet spot for a budget pc.

What about the new A8-3850 APU?

It's on par with the i3 on benchmarks and the onboard GPU is as powerful as a 5570 no? I also hear you can xfire it with a discrete card.

watching this topic from the sidelines, that's a good build! if you're on a tight budget it's much better to go with AMD processors and Radeon vidcards...also get a mobo that will let you upgrade the CPU and Xfire the vidcards in the future...am3+ would be the way to go...obviously sandy bridge CPUs are great but on a budget it's tough to beat a quadcore AMD processor (don't settle for dual core by the way)

get the phenom ll x4 955, its a bit more but its black edition which will allow you to overclock to atleast 3.6 quite easily, maybe even 3.8 if cooling will allow.
