Okay, seeing how the school year is coming to a close, I have decided to start a little project of my own. As you can see in my sig, I have a decent gaming rig. I am a huge fan of Ubuntu, and I have the 8.10 version on my comp but don't use it a lot. I currently have vista 64 bit. I want to build an Ubuntu comp for basic uses and CHEAP! Not for gaming. Here is what I have so far: http://www.tigerdirect.com/cgi-bin/shoppingcart.asp In case that didn't show up

if you're not playing games, dont even get a video card; onboard is great for general use. get an amd 64 x2 (you could probably get the 3.2ghz one) for that price, and get 2 gigs more ram.

On-board is correct, newegg has Rosewill cases for about $20-30 with PSUs and OEM DVD drives for $30. 2GB is plenty fine.

Can you run all the fancy CompFiz(?) with onboard? Just a question as I don't know. I have only played with Ubuntu 9.04 and it has so snazzy graphics, but I am using my Sig rig for it.

AMD 740/760/780G should be fine, for Intel you're looking at Geforce 8200.
