Build me a dream PC.

I've managed to get accepted to do a new masters at an excellent university, and to celebrate my parents have offered to buy me a luxurious gift. Now being the poignant nerd that I am I've asked for a new pc :P. (Car was out of the question, I drive a really nice car as it is)

I havent really been into the whole PC building malarchy for some time so im not quite sure thats seperate parts are hot right now. So im wondering if you guys could help me structure together some top of the key parts (i.e. graphics card, processor) to build that dream system.

If someone had that money to spend then SSD would be the way to go and get a 1TB HD along with it. Keep the 1TB drive for music and videos while the SSDs for games. The loading times on those are insane. Plus that extreme processor is not even the i7 one and two separate power supplies is a good idea.

I got this baby up to over $8000 and I think its better except the graphics 3x GTX 280 > 2x GTX 295

and the paint jobs on these things are stunning.

do yourself a favor and have the guys at cyberpowerpc build one for you. they built me a kick butt gaming pc that i totally love. it runs crysis. it runs the new demos that are out now. it runs anything. i am very pleased. i got a core 2 duo with a geforce 8800gts (this was a year ago) now they got all kinds of new stuff like a geforce 280 and much more. i can't keep up. let the professionals do it for you.

Go with a dragon platform (2x HD4890 Toxic OCd to 1000Mhz, AMD Phenom II 955, and a good mobo) and use the extra cash for a liquid cooling system, keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

Lol that is one hell of a gift :) I would love too see somebody buy my companies True Gamer 500 either the Intel or AMD. In fact drop me an email @ webmaster@project-computers.com or on here and maybe we can work out a deal where we do it at cost + shipping.

Intel True Gamer 500: Core i7 940 (extreme is basically a rip off sorry), 2x GTX 285's (maybe upgrade to 295's?), SSD + 1GB storage, surround, etc... etc... price would be less than listed if we did it at cost. We haven't sold one yet and I would love some benchies :P

Or build your own, the world is your playground when money is really not an option. May I ask what your getting a masters in?

If you have the cash go with the i7. I hate to say it but...

Read a review over at toms and they ran two gtx260's in an i7 rig against the "Phenom II X4 955, an impressive 3.6 GHz overclock, and two Radeon HD 4890 cards in CrossFire..." (qouted from this article) and the two GTX260 out performed the two 4890's because the x4 955 was bottle necking(!!!!!) the 4890's. Looking at the graphs, I would have to agree with the bottleneck statement. In fact their build was $1300 without OS I think and was more than capable check out the article and maybe build a similair rig with a single GTX285 :)

did you mention 2500$US of piece or 2500$ of pound !? Beside if someone know how to build pc is surely me im lot Experimented The only domain i haven't Venture Is the Overclocking & Watercooling Custom Build instead of KIT of WC which are alway inferrior to own set

Mean while if you talk about a Dream pc : id put a Core i7 And Overclock it the 920 : 940 : 975 : up to you : 920 with decent cooling is Offering you 4.0Ghz OC But You need Quite a Cooling thing such as haf 932 + A thermalright 120 True + LGA CLip 1336 + TWO KAZE 3000RPM to cool it off at best performances within Airflow

Or a Cpu Water-cooling kit such as Swiftech H2O-220 Apex Ultima : For Water-cooling tough im far from experienced in that domain but i know some guy who are in the Custom Pc Build union How Ever if you speak about Building a Dream PC In Performances That are Godlike such as Alpha_omega_69 : that cost more :P

Did i Put a wall of text ? nor i don't think i really did : im working here to make him is Dream pc ? Beside my Reading speed is sure Beyond Average user I know that You would type me A Text Like that it would take me no time as long it as Paragraph : else it would take me 30-50% more time : I'm fast at Type & Read : and smart i guess ;) Can't help it Kemar :D

but im asking him what is the Very money he can spend on it !? I mean id not come out with a 1600 pound build if he can't afford it then id have to Recalculate all the thing which would be Troublesome..!

I appreciate the offers and links, but I live in the UK, so am only limited to British or European merchants.

Another thing, which would you recommend? The Nvidia 285 or the radeon 4870 HD 2gb?

And which processor? Is a 3.0ghz quad core going to get the best out of my games or is it worth spending the extra cash on an i7 processor? Or shall I go down the AMD route?

i waited for 4870x2 to release to get my build lol and Gathering lot of Data i ad some help from my friend at the Custom pc build union also Beside Core i7 920 + overclock is Great : else there is still Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition at 3.8 & 3.9Ghz Like Beefdog that is Really Strong in gaming to handle lot of gpu power
