OK GS guru's, I need a system that can deal with the most recent games, some photo/video editing and have a decent sized HDD. I'm also looking at a new monitor too, but I intend to use my old 19" as a second screen. Yes I need an OS and no I'm not afraid to build it myself.

Really, the only thing I don't need are speakers. I have a Bose pair that still work great.

Your help is appreciated.

Ooh, I like it, but want an upgrade on my monitor size. I could add another $150 at a pinch. I'd really prefer something around a 23" widescreen if possible.

I say get a bigger hard drive or second one and skip on the high end card. I got a 500gb when I build my computer and it was full within 6 months. I know have a 750gb and a 2TB in mine.

lol, you are an example of why I do not place a priority on HDD. Later on you can get a bigger one and increase your PC's space, but with video cards, its not so easy to get extra performance.

Valid point. I would still rather have the space then have the 10 extra frames per second.

I would prefer a card that will last the next 2-3 years. I don't mind spending $100 down the road for extra HDD space.

OK guys I have the money together. I know it's only been a short time since this was put up, but should I make any changes or just stick with this?

Oh I'm using the specs from SPC on the first page.

Appreciate the feedback.

Why not? I'm gonna be doing some photo and video editing. Won't it help with that? I also plan on running W7 64bit and Photoshop Master Collection CS5. My wife uses it for work on her rig.

I was under the impression that the older 7XX series AMD chipsets did not natively support Phenom II x6's, but instead required a BIOS update to be compatible. Does MSI ship out the board you listed with the latest BIOS version available?

I really have no idea. That's why I consult the GS guru's.

It's fine. That's the updated version of the 770-G45. Hence the '870' in the name.

Forget the OS you can get that yourself easily from a friend who owns a laptop with the OS in disk or easily on torrents. Who really wants to give more money to a product that hardly does any relevant updates to fix real issues?

Be prepared for a ban my friend. I work hard, and I pay for everything I want. I wouldn't want to be stolen from; would you? Anyway, here's what I have right now, I just need to choose a GPU.

You forgot the CPU ;) Id go with a 5870 for the GPU though, which saves about $150 for a decent AMD CPU Id get this one

So be it i can see you have some moral values I dont =(. But 1300-770 leaves to $530 to spend on a video card. Maybe you can get the 5970 if you add 100 more. If not then you are either left with the 5870 or the Nvidia gtx 480. Oh dont forget cashback. If you buy through Bing believe you get 3% cashback off your total purchase(last time i checked tends to vary) Once i got 10% cashback.

Yeah, a CPU comes in handy, and thanks for the Bing rec. I wasn't trying to be smart, I just prefer to be honest about how I purchase.
