Ok, so I'm building a computer from scratch and I need some advice on which parts I should get. My budget is about $1500, and I need help with choosing a good motherboard that is in my price range. Also, if you think I should change some of my parts I listed to save some money, that would be great.

You don't need 680i. If you want to do sli get a 650i sli, if not get a 650i ultra or an intel chipset like p35.

I think, you need to decide between SLI or not... look into your future, and if you forsee using 2 cards, then get a 680i board. The reason is, if you get a 650i board, you're not gonna take advantage of full 16X SLI (650i boards only allow 8X in SLI) and if you don't get SLI, you're just wasting space on the MOBO...

Yeah, so if your not going SLI, then get a P35 mobo. BTW, I had trouble fitting a GTX in that case. You have to remove the fan bracket to get it to fit.

Copy my rig, then drop the monitor and physX, then change GPU to the 8800GTS 320MB, and buy a E6600 and maybe a weaker sound card instead. It should come out to be around $1500.

You don't need a soundcard. You can use the mobos on-booard sound card which works great.

No... you can fit everything just fine in a mid-tower... UNLESS

You get water cooling (Tubing is hard to route in a mid-tower, especially with the massive 8 series cards) or you need more than 6 HDD slots

Stick with a mid-tower case. The Antec 900 is fine. It's just that you have to remove the optional fan bracket to get the GTX to fit. It's not really a big deal.

DO NOT GET THE E6600. The e6550 is about as good for a lot less. It is only .07 Ghz slower. And the x8 sli has almost no negative impact on performance. Look around the web if you don't trust me.

Or just stick with Q6600 since you have a big enough budget.

And as for the OS, if you need to get one, get the OEM version unless you're planning to upgrade your MOBO soon. OEMs only "latch" onto one MOBO and can't be installed on any PC other than the one with that MOBO...

Really!??! Would you be able to fit 2 GTX's in the 900?

Does that mean the 9 series will be even bigger?

I hope not! I had to move my HDDs and remove my 8800GTS just to plug in the power to it! If history presists though, I bet the 9 series cards will either be the same size or bigger than the 8 series... Case manufacturers should wise up and make bigger cases...

Yea, I wouldn't know for sure until they release some screenshots ofa 9 series card...

And that is the way to go... SLI is technically useless unless you're using some insane resolutions... I only went SLI because I'm waiting for nVidia to finally release muli-screen support for it so I can use 2 or 3 monitors with 2 cards...
