I HIGHLY recommend this....
I bought one a year ago and it plays a lot of modern games smoothly even on high settings....well except for Crysis and GTA4. At its price, you can beef up the CPU more. And get a bigger hard drive while still remaining under your budget.....

If you really want to play games at medium settings, you can use that laptop, but there is a framerate hit it will take. 30 FPS isn't bad if your ok with it though. Don't know if Black Ops will play well on it, but it probably will have 30 FPS like other shooters do...

Radeon HD 5870M consumes around 50 Watts, while Geforce GTX260M consumes around 75 Watts.

For NVIDIA DX11 GPUs and under 40 watts, find Geforce GT540M based laptops i.e. 35 watts.This is one of the best laptops you'll find for gaming:
