I've grown tired of buying Dells for 1000s of dollars when I could build one for considerably less but I am a bit confused when it comes to theOS. What exactly is the difference between an OEM version of vista and the regular? Should I choose one over the other? thanks in advanced.

OEM Vista is tied onto your motherboard, so if you get a new motherboard or a new PC you won't be able to reuse the OS.

Retail Vista can only be used once at a time, but you can reuse it on a new motherboard or new PC.

OEM is the "system builder version" It's cheaper, and doesn't come with unneccesary crap, it's just the OS with no case
