Hi I'm planning on building a new computer, and I already have a Vista laptop. Do I need to buy Vista again or should the laptop (HP) have come with some cds or something that allows me to install vista on another machine? If I do need to buy vista again, should I buy the 32-bit or 64-bit version? (new comp uses amd 6000+ dual core proc and 4gb ram) Thanks!
If your going to continue using Vista on the laptop, you will for sure... You might ahve to anyway, often times OEM editions are tied to specific hardware. And if you don't have the discs you will have no way to install it anyway. If youve got 4GB of ram you should go for 64-bit, as long as your other hardware has drivers...
It probably would not even work, using those disc on a non-HP PC. But even if they did work, at any time it could quit working if MS discovers it is an illegally running copy of Windows.
Just buy a new copy of Vista, you can get it for under $100.
