So, the time has come again where I've gotten myself all excited about building a new PC. I gave my current desktop to my girlfriend so she has something decent to play WoW on, and now I'm in the market for a new rig. This will be the fourth PC I've built myself in the past eight years, and I've steadily increased the performance bracket (my first PC was low-mid range, second was mid range, third was mid-high). This time around, I've decided to quit beating around the bush and built myself a monster!

I just purchased the following items:
CoolerMaster CMStacker 830
Rosewill RX750-D-B 750W PSU
ASUS DRW-1814BL x2
Scythe KAMA BAY
Antec 761345-75024-0 120mm Case Fans x5
Hardcano 12 SE Fan Controller

So that pretty much takes care of power, media drives, and case cooling. Done and done.

Now, as for the core components, here are the items I was considering:
Motherboard/CPU Bundle: EVGA nForce 680i & Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Corsair DHX XMS2 Dominator Dual Channel 2048MB RAM
---With Corsair Dominator Memory Airflow Fan
EVGA GeForce 8800 Ultra x1 (for now)

Throw in a 500GB hard drive and a few other odds and ends, and that should be a pretty smokin' rig. Now, just so ya know, I do intend to take this thing SLI with a second GeForce8800 Ultra sometime in January, but I'm just going to start with a single GPU so I can begin playing games sooner.

As for a display, I plan to use my 60" Phillips HDTV.

Now, here are the questions I have:
With the current configurations, do you forsee any bottle-necks (is one component too fast for another)?
Is there anything I've overlooked?
Do you have any suggestions ona different video card, mobo, or processor?
Do you have any other comments about this configuration?
Is using the HDTV a good idea, or should I just shell out s'more cash for a nice sized monitor?

Thanks for the input!

If you are going to add another 8800 Ultra you might want a better PSU

For that same price or less than that combo, you could get a P35 and the same processor. The 680i is a great board, but the P35 is just a little more future proof (Penryn, DDR3, etc). A Q6600 certainlty won't bottleneck the Ultra, but if you had two, I'm not sure what affect the processor would have on the card's performance.

CHeaper RAM, mobo and a better PSU. Also good luck with SLI and that PSU, plus the 9800GTX alone will probably be faster.

That CPU that come in package whit mobo is OEM, so you have to buy additional HSF for it.

EDIT: I also suggest you spend some money on 24" LCD as you asked. And get GTX. GTX should do fine in 1920x1200, since in that resolution its performance is the same as whit 8800 GTS in 1680x1050.

awesome rig but dont get ultra, its overpriced for just an over clock. Get the GTX and over clokc it or just wait for the G90 series to come in november, I have a feeling that its going to be the only card the play crysis in dx10 really well.

Agreed. You could probably get a good 24" with the money you save from buying the GTX.

i think your CPU might bottle neck your GPS if your planning to go SLI, why dont u wait a little long untill intel release true quad core CPU, Cause the current quad CPUs arnt really 100% quad cores more like wonna-be quads!! (im just going from what ive been reading up on)

ohhh and getting a 60 Inch HDTV isnt a good idea! unless it has a large pixel rate of like 2000+ or your gonna get some rough looking graphics even with all AA/AF enabled!! i can just about get away with my 42 inch HDTV @ 1920x1200 but playing games at the rez needs a powerfull system and my system is startning to choke with gen of games, god help me with crysis...

I would recomend getting a dell Ultrasharp 3007WFP-HC 30" but make sure u get the latest REV version or a smaller HDTV.

Sorry for double post. If your games start to struggle in 1920x1200 that means that 8800 GTS is struggling in 1600x1200, since GTX performs about the same in 1920x1200 as GTS in 1600x1200. And i doubt that. You serious?? Cause i am about to order 24" LCD. And i told myself that if GTS can handle 1600x1200 than GTX can handle 1920x1200 whit same or little bit betetr performance. But now you come whit this answer...

well i can play most all my game at 1920x1200 with max AA/AF etc like HL2E2, FEAR, battlefield 2142, Halo 2... but the newer games like lost planet, Collin McRea DIRT i cant max out!! sure i can crank up the res to 1920 but i'd have to cut down on detail and AA/AF

yeah thats ture, i remember seeing an interview with the crysis developer running crysis on the "nelaham" seems its the first ture quad core, And well that CPU raped the s**t out of crysis! even the developer was shocked!
