Looks great, performance wouldbe a bit better with a faster dual core for the same price though.

I was just thinking that the Quad would be more future proof, right? Plus he well use the PC for more things like photo editing and dvd burning.

The P5Q has a terribly layout, what with its P1 connector way the hell towards the back of the board. Kiss any decent cable routing goodbye, and expect higher CPU temperatures thanks to the thick cable wrapping around it. The graphics card I'd avoid as well, if simply because the cooler BFG uses on it looks worse than the stock cooler that exhausts out the back of the case. I'd probably go for the XFX version of the card, or possibly EVGA. The sound card is a bit of a waste as well, the XtremeAudio only supports older versions of EAX (2.0 I believe) and as such (if it's going to be used in a gaming capacity) is a waste of money. If he's just interested in high-quality audio that's fine (although I'd go for the ASUS Xonar DX if that was the case), but you're going to want the X-Fi XtremeGamer card if he wants to take advantage of the latest EAX effects.

Ya i didnt really like the cooler on the video card but im trying my best to keep on my budget. I could spead abit more and get this card.

I think im going to stick with the MOBO because of the pci slots, most of the ones i look at the pci would be covered if i put the 2 slot video card in.

I think Im going to downgrade the sound a bit by getting this to make up for the better video card.

I feel like you could get a better GFX card for what youre going to pay for that 9800. Perhaps an ATI radeon 4850/4870?

The 9800GTX+ is $240 before rebate. The non XXX version is $220. The 4850 is $201.99.
