So my current computer is really bad as of now and it's time to get a new one. I want to build my new one, because the store bought ones don't have that much power in them. I just want to see if the parts I'm buying are good and so I don't waste my money. GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD is the motherboard. Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX is the case. I am going to play mostly RTS's on my computer, FPS mostly stay on the 360. I do want to play the games on pretty high quality though, without lag as well :P My budget is $800 Canadian. Thanks for the help, in advance!

8GB's of RAM is beyond overkill. Go with 4 or 6. Perfect choice for video card, also go with this CPU instead: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808

Also I suggest getting the Corsair 650w:http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

Grab the Noctua NH-U9B heatsink and change the power supply for the TX750.

No, I have 8gb and it's great, like I always have CSS and PS up in the background, WHILE im playing other games and my usage gets pretty high...couldnt do that with 6...

You will want a bigger PSU and I would recommend a 650w just to be on the safe side. You don't need 8GB of RAM as 4 will be sufficient. You can put the money you save towards a better cpu and psu. RTS games can be more cpu intensive than other games such as fps so you will get better performance from a Phenom II. I have linked parts below that would put you right around the $800 mark. AMD Phenom II 955G.Skill DDR3 1333 RAMGigabyte GTX 460 - same as you have linked! ASUS M4A77T/USB3Corsair tx 650WAntec 300 ILLUSION - Same as you have linked! Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM Total is $832.84 without any shipping and taxes.

Why anyone would run 2 extra things in the background while running other games doesn't make any sense to me, that is a specific case where you would need a lot more RAM. For most people 2-4 GB is enough.

Here's an SLi board for the possibility of another 460 in the future, but I think you would want a 750 watt PSU in that case.

EDIT: forgot the actual link. Jeez.

another option to bolster savings is to grab a rosewill challenger case instead + windows 7 in a bundle.. youd be saving about ehh 30 bucks with that over the cramped antec 300 + windows 7. the 900 is sooo much better than the 300 if you went with that instead i would have backed off but its a whole 20 bucks moar.

the rosewill challeneger is jsut as good and uses thumbscrews.. which is a huge help for first time builders b/c screws suck :P

You cant use DDR2 ram with a motherboard that uses DDR 3, you need to change that.
