So guys heres the rig give your thoughts on my rig. I will also tell you why I chose that component.

CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4Ghz 4Mb cache
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2280512

Motherboard E-VGA nForce 650i Ultra (T1 version)
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3079367&CatId=2541
I chose the board because it was cheap and supported quad cores so I could upgrade. Is this a good board?

Memory OCZ Dual Channel XTC 2048MB
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1882393&Tab=11&NoMapp=0
Haven't bought from OCz before. The people that have used it. How is it?

Video Card XFX Geforce 7900GS XXX edition
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2707975&Sku=P450-7948

What do you guys think about the Card. Should I buy this or an Asus X1950 PRO 256MB. Sorry Guys can't afford an 8800GTS 320MB because its $360 here. Twice the amount thats required for a 7900gs or x1950.

Hardrive
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2179837&CatId=2458

Case Centurian 5
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1028568&CatId=1842

PowerSupply Ultra X-Finity 600-Watts
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2974309&Sku=ULT31848%20K
Hows the powersupply? Is it good enough for all the components? Will it last me? How would it be if I upgrade to a DX10 card?

LiteOn DVD Burner with Lightscribe
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2665639&Tab=2&NoMapp=0

So these are all the basic parts. Tell me if I need anything else for the rig. THANKS!

At stock speeds, the X1950Pro generally has an advantage over the 7900GS - if you can't find one cheaper or the same price as that 7900GS though, I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not too fond of the X-Finity series from Ultra either - an Ultra X2 would work, but for that price you can pick up an OCZ GameXStream at that site. The power supply you picked out looks decent enough though, and should have no problems powering your rig.

You'll need an operating system as well, unless you're going to be using Linux.

Yeah, the x1950pro is generally slightly faster, but the 7900GS overclocks pretty darn well. They are both good mainstream choices though.

kinda? The x1950 has more shaders. they will always be within a few frames of each other. And that XXX edition is just an example of how well the GS overclocks

Wow, a 150MHz overclock on the core? I would have sworn the XXX edition of the 7900GS was only 525MHz on the core. If that card is properly labeled and indeed a 600MHz core and 1530MHz mem, then it will be faster than the X1950Pro.

There's a lot more that goes into one GPU being faster than another - but if those clocks are correct, that particular 7900GS should be better than a stock X1950Pro.

You're better off with that 650i board.

so I should go with 650i ultra. I mean they also have an SLI edition for $40 more with same features. should I go for that one. Here it is.

If you do want to consider a dual-graphics solution, that board is the way to go. If you don't have plans to do so, don't bother spending the extra money on a feature you won't use.
