building my first pc

so far (please dont tell me my cpu is bad)

cpu: pentium D 945 3.4ghz

ram: 3gb

GPU: ???

i need help on a gpu that wont be bottlenecked too much by my cpu and hopefully 100 dollars or less any suggestions?

Is that even a dual core? If so, I think it's good. Only $100 for the GPU? You should get at least a GTX 460 for $130 or so.

Also you should try the hardware forum.

Also you should try the hardware forum.

oh yea it is a dual core but i think it was the first one to come out, i heard that a 5770 was too much for my cpu so i wouldnt even try with a gtx 460, and i apologize about posting in software forum, it was a mistake, ill repost in hardware

A 3.4 GHz dual core is enough even if it's an older model. I have a crappy Pentium dual core at 2 GHz and plan to get a GTX 460.:P

Here's my tip to you. If for some reason your computer won't start up after building it, plug in a speaker system. There'll usually be some sort of error beep that will tell you your problem. I made a mistake of not doing that. Ended up buying a new MoBo when all I needed was different RAM sticks.
