Hey guys,i want to build a new computer. I want something thats good for games, and good for heavy multitasking on the computer. Currently I cant decided between getting and AMD or Intel, around the same price as aAMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965, Here are my current computers specs

Intel XBX2 Motherboard

Intel core 2 duo E6400

2Gb ddr2 RAM

Radeon 4790 HD

160GB hard drive.

Im planning on buying

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965,

Gigabyte GA-MA770T

Corsair TW3X4G1600C9D 4GB (2x XMS3 2GB) PC-12800

Some random 500GB hardrive,

Going to take the graphics card and computer case and other stuff from my old computer. Parts will totally cost around 600 Aussie dollars. (expensive :( ) My budget is 700 MAX. Please find parts fromhttp://austin.net.au If you have suggestions and that is the cheapest place near me. Or australian ebay.

Future plans, dual monitor for word processing and internet usage at the same time.

Any Suggestions?

Go with whichever you can find the best deal to performance. Thats the absolute best option to take then to consider amd vs intel.

You are spending WAY too much on the memory sticks. Get some brandless 1066 ones, or some random value pack ones. You should also just get a 955 instead of 965. From your current specs using a 4790, you won't experience much difference at all except for the 2gb increase in memory. In other words you won't see much difference at all if you upgrade all those components or simply add another 2GB DDR2 RAM. If you want pure performance increase, a better choice would be: buying 2GB RAM and a 5850/5870 instead of upgrading all those unnecessary and insignificant(when it comes to gaming performance) components.

Here's some stuff I found, dropped the price quite a bit :P

Phenom II x4 945

Gigabyte Mobo

G. Skill RAM

500 GB HDD

Total is weird, says subtotal is 493.30. And the tax is 44.85. But then it says the total is still 493.30. O_o

^I have that mobo and ram. It overclocks very nicley, all I did was bump up the multiplier and had 3.3Ghz at the snap of a finger.
