Hej all

atm i have a E6600 @2.4 ; 2 gig ddr 2 ram ; and a 7900 GTO.

in other words time for building a new pc.

Because i have a 24 inch screen i want to play with high resolution

I am thinking of buying a GTX 285 now and wait a couple of months for buying new mobo and cpu and ram. Or should i buy it all now?or wait with buying anything at the moment.

hope you guys can help me out here

Thx !

I really suggest buying a 4870 or a gtx 260 max core since the e6600 might be a slight bottleneck for the gtx285 ( not much though). Your processor is still quite good for gaming ( especially if you overclock it at 2,8-3ghz but even at stock speed is quite good). As for ram if you have windows xp 2gb is ok and dont need to upgrade to 4gb yet . The difference you will see in gaming just by changing the vga will be huge btw Or if money is not a problem you can go to the new intel platform You will need a new x58 mobo and an icore 7 cpu ( both of which are a bit expensive though by the next 3-4 months prices will drop)

LOL that is almost mind reading what you do because i was thinking the same. An GTX 285 is indeed a bit to much for an E6600 but i am going to replace it anyways in the next 6 months.

I am going to overclock my E6600 ( running @ 33 0celcius ) and replace my videocart and wait for the summer! thnx !

Get the GTX285 if you have a 24 inch screen. Your cpu is fine still.

Are you running xp or vista? If vista, I would also get another 2gb of ram. Like others have said, your cpu is fine if you oc it a little. As for the graphics card, I'd recommend something like a 4850x2.

The 1gb version is a little cheaper, and should still work fine with the 24", just depends on how much you wanna spend.
