Hello There,
Im trying to build my first A-Z complete rig, and im facing some diffculites to choose some compenets or having wonders about some parts, so im praying that i would find the answers here,

**CPU : i was almost so close to get q6600 (G0 stepping) untill i found a really good offer for qx6700 which is about 150 USD more than the first one, so Does it really worth to get the second one -I will OC my rig alilbit-
**Mobo : Already bought Asus STriker Extreme with updated BIOS
**HDD : x2 WD Raptor X (RAID0)
**Ram : Im stucked between 2 choices which is to get kit of 2x1gbor2x2gb kit, though i will be using OS XP-32bit at the beginning which means i will get only 3~3.5gb shown but im going to Vista later as well, so my question is : Will i get the advantage of Dual Channel speedkit though im not using the whole size of ram under 4gb case?? (i really couldnt find an answer for this)
**VGA : Again i have 2 choices, either to get 8800GT and run them in SLI or to get asingle 8800GTX so willhave the chance to upgrade it once its the good time, i will get 20~22 inch screen size so its mostly 1600x1200 if that helps(do you think that wide screen is any good)
Hope to get an extra help about the manufacutrer and also if it worths to get the Pre-OCed for extra bucks.

**PSU : I already have OCZ GameXStream 700W, so does it still handle the new rig with both Graphics options ??
**OS : as i mentioed previously i will be using xp-32 bit but plannig to upgrade it to Vista later, so shall i get the Vista from the first moment ?? And whichedition is the best for gaming rig ??
**CPU cooler, well, i readquite alot about this subject and everytime my options are getting more and more, so i decided just to ask people who have experience.

Thats it for now... I know its quite long post but i need your help...
Thanks in Advance....& your help is appreciated....
-Mo

I just got done building a rig myself and I went with a 6600 CPU and 8800 GT solution (single GPU). From the research I've done on the subject, I've come to the conclusion that a single 8800 GT (512 MB) not only nearly matches a single GTX model, but it costs significantly less. As many others here will suggest, I think you'd be much better off going with a single card P35 mobo and simply overclock everything. Not that the 6700 is a bad CPU, but you can achieve the same results with a 6600 and still have plenty of room to overclock with the right mobo/heatsink (I suggest a Zalman). I personally went with 4 gigs of RAM, but thats because I built my system with RTS (Supreme Commander) in mind... I'll be overclocking that too.

Sorry, it might sounds hell noob, but what do you mean with RTS (Supreme Commander) ?? About the Mobo, maybe its not clear enough but i mentioed that i already got my Asus Striker Extreme.
Hope to see more help.. ;)

Get the Q6600 & with the 150$ get a 8800GTS (a bit expensive that 8800GT) & Maybe 4GB RAM also.

CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600

Mobo: Damn, if you got X38/X48, you could've easily fit HD3870 CrossFire in your budget

HDD: Raptors are overhyped, hot and noisy. Grab one regular 7200 RPM 250-500GB HDD

RAM: What types of games will you be playing? Someone mentioned RTS (Real Time Strategy) games needing more than 2GB (Supreme Commander is a good example of this), and since he plays them often, it would make sense to go for more RAM. FPS games only need 2GB of RAM or less. Go with what you need.

VGA: Buy a single 8800 GTS 512MB (G92). Try and push SLi as well (only if you can find another for a bargain). Don't bother with pre-overclocked models. You can do most of the overclocking yourself very easily).

PSU: That PSU will be fine, even for SLi (although GTX SLi could get a bit shakey).

OS: You may as well get Vista now if you already plan on using it in the future. Further, you may as well go for 64 bit (especially if you plan on buying 4GB of RAM), as you should have the 32 bit version disc included (just in case) in the retail version of Vista too.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212, Thermalright Ultima 90I (+ 90mm fan) and Tuniq Tower 120 are all high end air coolers suitable of aggressive quad core overclocking.

Thanks wesker for those info, anyway since my Mobo in my hands now its to late to start regret about it + im happy with my choice so far.
About the RAM, my confusion is about having the ability to get Dual-Channel speed from a4gb kit on XP-32bit Or not ?? because everybody knows that i will have over 3GB bit so does it mean thatboth sticks still working paired in dual channel mode ??
For VGA, alocal dealer just advissed me to keep running my 7800GT 256mb on the next rig untill G9 series come out next Fab !! Does anyone support this opinion ??
For CPU cooler, mostly im getting ThermaltakeUltra 120ex.
Finally now thinking about the Case + Monitor. For the case should get one of the following (Antec 900, p182 or CoolerMaster).
For the monitor i have no optinos AT ALL, so any help here would be apperciated regarding this matter(Is Widescreen agood option) ??

Thanks again everyone

You will run them in Dual Channel without a problem.

You should wait for G9xxx graphic card like your your Dealer said.

120 Extreme is very good.

If I were you I will get Antec 900.

For the monitor, 22" Wide Screen monitor

Well if you are in between of choosing the GTX or 8800GT SLi, then definitely GT SLi, the performance is better than the ones of the Ultra's.
