Hi all,

I'm building a new rig soon and I have narrowed my search down to 2 cases that I like and think may work out ok, but I need some help figuring if it will fit an ATI 6870 with no problem, will it be flexible for upgrades in the future like bigger cards, etc, and have adequate air flow. So if any of you have these cases or just have a good opinion about them, please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Cases:

1)http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4421304&Sku=A406-1115&SRCCODE=GOOAPI59011304&TId=1&SF=1

2)http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4776230&Sku=A107-1130

Stuff I already ordered:

1) PSUhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004

2) HDDhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136283

3) OS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754

4) MOBOhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131660

5) DVD DRIVEhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827140041

Stuff I will be ordering soon:

1) CPUhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103675&cm_re=945-_-19-103-675-_-Product

2) GPU ATI 6870-not sure which exact brand to get yet so no link

3) RAM NEED RECOMMENDATIONS , I know I want 4 gigs, but don't know what else to get

So if anyone has an idea or comment about any of this, just post and thanks in advance!

CPU and case combo - AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ940XCJ4DGI - OEM

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Screw the stock AMD cooler, trust me, you don't want it. Besides, this one has an unlocked multiplier = moar overclocking capabilities.

With the same amount of money, grab a REAL cooler:

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 compatible RR-B10-212P-G1 120mm "heatpipe direct contact" Long life sleeve CPU Cooler

GPU: ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Much better value than 6870.

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM

Stick with the 6870, its faster than the 460, and get 4GB of Kingston Value RAM DDR3 1333MHz for $71 off newegg. For the case get an Antec Two Hundred if you don't want to spend too much and add a TriCool fan to the front. I would also get the VX-650.

A 470 is a poor choice to a 6870. It uses at least 80 more watts for not much more speed.

The VX-550 is a 650w psu actually, just in a 550w casing, Corsair stated it gives more headroom. (so the psu is fine actually, and we will not go multi-gpu in her rig) I know she is very particular on how she wants her case to look, you know :roll:She doesn't like any of the antec lol.

She has narrowed her cases down to the two she has links for. (so far, and she has looked at a lot of cases lol)

But that Ram you mention is a possibility for sure... gonna have to look into that for her.

lol... what's up with people buying $100 cases?

I bought a $20 case and modded it to have the airflow of one of those expensive cases. I doesn't have a window, or flashy rice-burner/Fast and the Furious lights, but it's all black and elegant looking for a fraction of th cost.

Guess I'm just a cheapskate haha.

Then I'd get the NZXT case. As for the RAM I've bought 2 kits and and if you will be getting a new heatsink (which I'd also recommend) the ram will have no problems with clearance.

This is the case I bought last last year, wonderfully solid, (heavy, not good if you move your PC around alot) tons of expansion room, very quite, easy to clean filters.

On a budget? Get what I recommended then. I think it was $70 for a very, very nice case.

I adore this case: Cooler Master HAF 922 And if you want 4GB of RAM, I would fully suggest you get this.

I'm getting the HAF 922 with my new build. I've heard nothing but good about it.
