My parts are q6600, geforce 7800 gt oc, 680i lt mb, 4 gig of ddr2(2x2048), and an x2 750watt powersupply. When I connected my dvd drive to the motheroard with an eide cable my dvd drive gets no power, but if I unplug the eide cable then the dvd drive gets power, and also I tested it in another computer and it worked fine. Is there something wrong with the motherboard or is that dvd drive just not compatable?

Hm... Try a different IDE cable. It kind of sounds like a short, but that doesn't make sense.

Try a different drive on your mobo, see if that works.

The power supply works because everything else works in the computer. The dvd drive can get power from the power supply but only if it's not connected to the motherboard with an ide cable, because if it is then it gets no power.

Well if you would find it too much hassle to replace the whole motherboard after having it in the machine... you could try a SATA DVD drive... which at $20-30 is probably easier than RMAing the motherboard. Presumably your motherboard has a spare SATA connector you're not using for a hard drive. And if it still doesn't work you can always sell or give the drive to a friend who's building and then RMA the motherboard.
