Hi, I'm looking to build a gaming PC for games like Grand Theft Auto 4 and 5 (GTA 5 may be ported by the same guys who ported L.A Noire so it may be a bad port), Skyrim, and maybe some others coming out in the next couple of years. I've been looking around but the tutorials I have found are usually using US prices (which are cheaper than Australian) Don't need/want: Keyboard Headphones/speakers Mouse Monitor (found a decent 1080p one for $99) Windows 7 ultimate or basic (any other windows 7 version is fine) Intel graphics Intel core I7 (core I5 is cheaper for what I'll be doing. Can be AMD if good) Requirements: EVERYTHING else needed to make it (GPU, power supply, hard drive etc.) Windows 7 64-bit (Not ultimate/basic) 8gb RAM? (Can be 4gb if it's really good) Can be SLIGHTLY over $1000 (but not $1100+) if it's worth it Thanks.

Not really. As long as they're a good quality for the price then whatever.

Both posted builds are good.

If the first one is too expensive you can always drop to the 650w corsair CX and/or a GTX 760 for only a small performance drop.

And to think, my crappy $600 pc I built this past black friday can play Crysis 3 maxed out with FXAA 1080p around 35fps (28ish-50 in outdoor areas).  Welp, my pc isn't anything at all, and I'm not a gamer.  I should just go die.

Just kidding.  My 660 overclocked to 1206/6600 can pull the game just fine, and even if 35 fps isn't ideal, I can compensate that monetary difference and 15 less frames by playing it on my ST50.  Looks nice :)

For $1000, he should be able to max just about anything for another year or two above 30 fps.

An i7 3960X will bring litterally no gaming improvements for more than twice the price than an i7-4770k (which is already overkill for gaming). And the 690 is a bad deal too, you're far better off getting 2 GTX 770 in SLI, you'll get better performance for 200$ less. You better be trolling otherwise you're just wrecklessly ignorant.
