The power supply is probably too weak to power that setup. That's probably the 430w TR2, which has a max of 18a on its +12v rail, and it's probably not even capable of putting out that much. The 8800GS is no power hog, but it wouldn't surprise me if the power supply isn't up to snuff.

Still, double-check all your connections first. And that's a pretty good price for those components.

Yeah I didn't know you got a 430W psu or I would of told u its probably not enough power. Anyway, they are probably just there and want to make money not really concerned about there customers.

Here's something I bet most people won't notice: perhaps it's the front panel connectors that are not plugged in correctly/at all? You know, the power switch, reset switch, ect.

I plugged in the front panel connecters properly.
So if my psu is to weak theres no chance of turning on the tower? even if everything was done properly?

It's a 24-pin connector, not 40-pin. There should also be a power connector (either Molex or SATA) going to every hard drive and optical drive in you setup (only one per drive, if they have room for both the molex and SATA only one is needed), a 4-pin connector right next to your CPU, a 6-pin connector for the graphics card. Also make sure all your fans are hooked up, most importantly the CPU fan, which should be hooked up to a 3-pin header somewhere near the CPU socket. And as mentioned, you'll also need to hook up the case power and reset switches (actually one of the more difficult parts of any build, given the usually poor labeling and non-standard nature of the connections). That does it for the major connections, although any little extras like a floppy drive/card reader, fan controller, and extra case fans will also require their own connections.

Sorry no, it just can't supply the power. Like trying to run a microwave with a double-a battery or something lol. Anyway, high watt psu's aren't that expensive, I am getting this 630W PSU for 49.99 after rebate: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817190017

and its high quality I am sure by the reviews. It should give plenty of power and it ships FAST.

I'd take a 380w Seasonic power supply over that Xion. No mention of actual +12v rail distribution on the unit itself, no UL code to check the actual power supply manufacturer, and as for the reviews, a bunch of guys praising a 650w unit for being able to run rigs that probably don't even hit 300w of power use is ridiculous (best graphics card I see on there is a 9600GT,), especially given the very limited number of reviews and how old they aren't. Only one review over one month old, but still less than a year so we don't know how long it might actually last, or how many other components it might kill (low-quality power supplies are the number one RAM killer in the world) before you get rid of it, possibly without ever realizing it was the problem.

Not all power supplies are made equal. The 430w Antec Truepower Trio, Neopowr and Earthwatts units all put out 30a or more on their +12v rails, nearly twice what yours does, and there are other ~410-450w units that have higher +12v output than your power supply does as well.

Rail distribution is very important in a power supply. Yours is heavily weighted towards the +5v rail, indicating it's an older design geared towards older machines that were more +5v heavy than +12v like a modern computer.

Does it turn on, then shut off right after? Or does it just not turn on at all?
