First off I'm a noob when it comes to building a PC, this is my first one I built. I believe I got everything connected right, the motherboard (DX58SO)is getting power and all the fans are moving. But nothing is coming up on my monitor. I thought it could be that I dont have the updated drives for the graphic card, but there is no where to plug my monitor directly into the motherboard. Any thoughts???

Have you plugged in the power connection(s) for your video card if it requires any?

Updating drivers won't do anything, they're not needed until you're in Windows (or whatever OS you're using).

Go through your motherboard's instruction manual and make sure the power connections are all correct. Also try taking the graphics card out and putting it back in.

You do not need graphics card drivers to operate windows. You only need them to do gaming. I know this because I have a separate GPU and when I format my hard drive the monitor still works. If I had to guess, I would say that your RAM is incompatible with your motherboard.

if you aren't plugging your monitor how are you expecting anything to show up on your monitor?

do you have a gfx card ?

normally monitors plug onto the gfx card but if you don't have one plug it in the vga port (blue)

You did install the standoffs right? If you didn't you should install them then hope that you haven't short circuited anything and destroyed your components.

I have plugged in the power connections to my graphics card (GTX 260) and the monitor is plugged into that. The motherboard (DX58SO)doesnt have that VGA (blue port) anywhere on the back of it. The RAM I bought says on the package that its made for this motherboard. Thanks for all your suggestions.I will go through the instructions again to make sure all connections on the motherboard are in.I will also try removing the graphics card and putting it back and the jumpers. Any other suggestions? If this doesn't work I will just bring it into bestbuy and have their geek squad make it work. Good attempt all in all for my first try lol.

Wouldn't that suck?

I just built a new system less then two weeks ago and had the same problem. Turns out I had to have the graphics card in a specific slot when not using SLI or Crossfire, despite the fact that the manual said it didn't matter. After switching slots it came up fine.

Clear your CMOS - check your manual on how to do this, but *usually* you do it by unplugging the power cord and moving a jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 for a few seconds, and then flipping it back. If you're lucky, your board will simply have a "reset" button. - On 3 out of my last 5 systems, I needed to reset the motherboard after installing the CPU, before the system would boot up.
