Hello, im planning on buying my parts this friday and my burdget is around $800 - $1000, though i would prefer to not go over 800 seeing as im a college student and i cant go around spending the little money i have left. i have some of the parts picked out, help and advice would be great specially if you know of any better deals as far as the price goes, but also keep in mind that i do care about quality. CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103674 (AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition) GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130433 (GTX 260 Core 216 Supercocked Edition) Ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166 ( 4G (2x2gb) DDR2)) Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131397 (ASUS M4A77TD Pro AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard) HDD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145233 (1TB) DVD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136153 Case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021 Now, i need some advice on the PSU and what about the OS, should i go with vista, or xp? if i forgot something and picked something that isnt compatible, please let me know. Once again if you know better deals, a link would be appreciated. This is my first time actually building my pc even though im very tech savy. :) thanks in advanced.

sorry that is soo damn close to each other, gamespot HTML errors wouldnt let me post, so i have to copy and paste my message into the HTML box. :(

No keep the Phenom II 955 and change your video card to the ATi 4890 which performs better than the 260 GTX. Also go with a 790GX motherboard. Also get this case/power supply combohttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.250626

No not really. However, Physx really isn't needed in my opinion because the 4890 has plenty of stream processors to handle the Physics as well as everything else. Trust me it's better to go with the 4890.

That RAM won't work with that motherboard.

AM3 motherboards only support DDR3.

Here is Core i5 and Core i7 8xx pricing

If you get a motherboard that is AM3 supported and is backward compatible with AM2 then the motherboard will support DDR2

Yuck! Don't get that are you crazy? here get THIS case and power supplyhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.250626Also get the 4890 video card as well as the Gigabyte 790GX motherboard that I linked you to and then the Phenom II X4 955. Keep everything else the same and get Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OEM (the one with the windows 7 coupon). The parts I mentioned will give you a more balanced system.

The i5 is not really better in any way than the Phenom II 955. The performance is about the same. Also you would have to spend more money because the X58 boards and DDR3 memory is expensive.

You'll need some big trucks to come in and do the digging..............oh wait what. I would go Intel if i were you, if you have a Microcenter around you you can get the i5 and new i7s cheaper than the egg. Hitachi is a big no no.

I said the i7 860 (230USD at microcenter)

and no it doesn't use the x58 motherboards, it uses the new 1156 socket motherboard. Mainly the only downside I see is pciE with multi gpu, since there are no 2 x16 or 3 x16 motherboards. (Pci E)

its a bit too pricey and i didnt see much of a different between the i5 and i7 860, plus there are no microcenters in Florida as i previously stated
