don't worry about it.. My mobo, (not EVGA) but close to it has onboard sound like it and It works great. I'd say just stick with onboard you won't notice much difference in another soundcard.ferrari2001
you will only notice a lot of difference if you have high quality speakers!
I think if he has quality speakers already then he should know that he needs sound card as wellSearchMaster
you never know...
Certain onboard sound cards can have problems with certain games, they can even lower performance.
In my opinion you should get a half decent SoundBlaster card.

The X-Fi Xtreme Gamer gets extremely good reviews and isnt very expensive in my opinion.

I think they are one of tops at the market. Im going to get the Auzentech Prelude, it has the same features of the X-Fi gaming and also the Live decoding so i dont need to have an external decoder like Z-5500eIn the early days of onboard sound cards you took noticable performance hit in most cases. I think that they've improved most onboard sound cards to the point that you'll notice little drop in performance. Sound quality is another matter. A dedicated Creative or Turtle Beach card will provide you with scads more options and probably much better sound, if sound matters to you. If all you're looking for is boomng explosions, go with the onboard sound and forget the add on card.

Well, all of my gaming is done through high quality headphones. But I am a bit of an audiophile. I can justify the cost easy enough, but only if the increase in quality and performance is worht the extra money. If it would be only a minimal difference and possible conflicts then nutz to that.
Still on the fence...Seems like the EVGA 780i has some good sound onboard already, just not sure if a dedicated card would really make that much difference.

Well modern sound cards are actually meant to very slightly improve frame rates in games seeing as it take away the job from the CPU!
