This game is fantastic on Steam and I love the fact it has high scores for all the songs you play on it and you can battle for the highest score on the songs over the internet scoreboards.

It's only $10 and sooo addictive...

Hmm, might give it a shot. What specs required for it? and how much does it cost?

I bought it last week after reading some reviews and hearing so many enthusiastic comments in forums. This is the first rhythm game I've every purchased, but so far I'm loving it. Although the music algorithms are a little off when it comes to rhythm detection (sometimes it feels like you're playing a minigame with accompanying music), certain songs are really fun to play with. The fact that it's only $10 and comes with The Orange Box soundtrack and works with virtually any song made it a must buy for me. Highly recommended if you want to try something a little different without spending too much.

That said, most of the game's enjoyment comes from the song you choose. Its best to go with faster paced songs. I've got a huge library of trance/techno and it fits PERFECTLY with this game.

Already own it and already love it. Go to figure out how to login to my account though... the newest update logged me out and I can't for the life of me figure out how to login again.

I don't like music/rhythm games in any form, so no thanks. I'm content with just listening to my music, playing games based on it doesn't appeal to me.

I downloaded the demo (effing Steam. Twenty minutes for Steam to start then crap d/l speeds. 14 hours to d/l a 300MB demo), tried it with 3 songs, then deleted it. Dull as dishwater.

I used to be just like you. It turns out that Audisurf is a great way to become acquainted with rhythm games assuming you pick the right songs. If you pick a slower-paced song, one with a lot of distorition, etc. the gameplay is awful. I find that half of Audiosurf's fun is in experimenting with different songs and seeing how the game's algorithms/engine handles it.

Part of Audiosurf's success I think can be attributed to its synesthetic nature. Listening to music is one thing, but Audisurf elevates music into a visual plane which, at least for a very visual person such as myself, really changes the experience.

If you're going to try out the demo, try out the following songs that come with The Orange Box soundtrack:

Vortal Combat and Sector Sweep in the Ep. 1/2 folder.

Song 25 from HL1.

Still Alive-Portal

Team Fortress 2 main theme.

These are some of my personal favorites and do a pretty good job of demoing the game. The first song under the "radio" tab is also fun to play.

Doesn't look like it. It could handle other slightly more esoteric music files like FLAC before, though.

Ah, phooey. Even Windows Media can play MIDI files, I wonder what that's all about? Oh well.

I tried the demo and loved it! Probably won't buy though, I don't buy games online. Maybe if there was a shelf version of it.

LOL, and you have a Steam icon in your avatar.

You think Dylan Fitterer would be able to sell it for only $10 if it wasn't for Steam? Would he be able to get boxes and discs made for every shelf in the world? No. He would need EA to buy his idea and inflate the price to $40 for each copy they can pump out. They'd probably make a franchise out of it and make copies of copies until people hate it.

Buy the game, you'd be supporting an independant developer, not a big fancy studio of talentless hacks.

How does the game work!? It sounds interesting.smokeydabear076

The game basically revolves around simple racing elements combined with simplified puzzle elements. You race along a track, but it's not about speed but about scoring points by picking up different coloured blocks, making combinations. The interesting part is that the track, speed and distribution of blocks correspond with an audio track you choose before the game starts and hear while you're playing. I did my best to explain but I realize you'll probably get a better grasp of the game if you just play the demo.

I tried the demo, accidentally deleted it and didn't feel the need to download it again. I thought the idea of combining music with level-design is pure genius, but the game-play just lacked that certain something to make me want to keep playing..
