Similar HW here, and yes the game will run fine on your PC, but be advised that the game was designed to run between 20~30fps@ 1280 x 720 resolution, so you'll notice some fps spikes (ie: going from 45 to 20 when turning around a corner) but the overall experience is nice and well worth your $8.
Btw, these are the settings I'm using but some tweaking is required to achieve a good performance (mmm...I guess I could drop the resolution to 1680*1050 :P). http://img684.imageshack.us/i/gta4lu.jpg/

Seems about right and same to what I was getting for my patched and tweaked version, I lowered shadows to 4 or something and Vehicle detail a bit lower --- and it ran fine for me at 30 fps and was very playable at 25 fps or so tooSimilar HW here, and yes the game will run fine on your PC, but be advised that the game was designed to run between 20~30fps@ 1280 x 720 resolution, so you'll notice some fps spikes (ie: going from 45 to 20 when turning around a corner) but the overall experience is nice and well worth your $8.

I just got it too for $7.50 off of Steam. Seems really fun so far, but yes it does need a monster of a pc to run decently. Having no AA makes it look like crap even with everything turned up to the max, there are tweaks to try to implement a AA substitute, but they aren't like the real deal.
I like the game on my 360, but is there any point in getting it for PC? And are there any good mods?monkeymoose5000
id wouldnt bother tbh unless you have an above average quad core, a video card with a gb of vram (not sli-d) and lots of ram in which case it should look and run pretty damn good and far better than the 360 version.
there are a few good mods but id buy episodes from liberty city for the 360 instead of buying it again for the pc.
For a sale price of 10$CND it was slightly worth the whole three days it took to beat it.
I do not believe it is worth the name of GTA though, after playing Vice city and San Andreas. Just seemed to drop half of what made the other titles fun for myself.
Perhaps multi-player is supposed to fill the missing content that the previous titles already had in place ?

I can probably run it, but it's only $7.50. Episodes is $40. Hard to say no...For 8 dollars, the game is a steal. Don't forget about mods. Your specs are similiar to mine and I'm running it at 1920x1080 maxed settings with no lag. In case you're wondering, I'm running it on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate Edition.Should i buy GTA IV for 8$? Negative. Multiplayer is dead for the PC version. I agree, I was disappointed to find out they dropped out so many customization options. I was really looking forward to upgrading a vehicle and driving around like a mad man.For a sale price of 10$CND it was slightly worth the whole three days it took to beat it.

[QUOTE="dakan45"][QUOTE="mo0ksi"] The PC version just exploits the GAME's visual flaws, especially when the textures are on high.mo0ksii swear the god i played the game both on x360 and ps3 and it did not seem to lack antialisng as much as the pc in the highest resolution i could set, it looks sharper on console for some reason, gotta be the fact that games are kinda blurry on consoles so like you said they hide the visual flaws, especially those fake ass shadows!!! Well you can always press P to toggle the definition of the game and get rid of some of the aliasing. It just makes everything blurry :P Yeah i know its like a double cutting knife, no matter if you choose to set it on or off there is still something good and something bad that will come out of it!!! In the consoles however it does not look that blurry, hmm gotta be the HD TV, i wouldnt dare playing the game at a normal tv!!!
