I've been thinking about getting a desktop for a while now and saw this on craigslist for $450. I'll have to ask for the full specs but this seems like a pretty good? Was also wondering what sort of tests I can have the guy do to make sure the computer isn't just about to crap out. Any ideas?

ok guess i should jump on it. But isn't it too good to be true? I just feel like something must be wrong with it for it to go so cheap with a monitor too.

That is fairly cheap for a monitor included price, but used PC part's depreciate quickly so it's not too unbelievable. Make sure you know the make/model of the power supply because if it's a cheapy you might want to replace it.

yah its a used PC, its extremely tough to sell used computer components to people near their retail value they were purchased at, unless you get some sucker you know that doesn't know anything about technology to buy it from you.

Personally, I would never buy a used PC. You never know what's truly wrong with it, or if there's anything wrong with it at all. Since it's Craiglist and it's going to be local pickup.. test it out first. But make sure you bring a concealed weapon just in case he tries to rob you.

Where the hell do you guys live, where you need to take weapons to a Craig's List meet up. Are there some test I could put on a thumb drive to test while there? Guy seemed pretty cool. Think maybe a pot head he talked sort of slow.

I got some good deals from craigslist/kijiji in the past, like a used 460 gtx for $100 when they were selling in stores for about $170, and a radeon 6950 2gb for $230 when it was selling for $300 in stores. the only reason ur computer is cheap is because of the cpu, which is an AMD. AMD cpus are relatively crappy compared to intel, so where u got a discount

"relatively crappy" We got another Intel fanboy. AMD is great for gaming seeing as you can max any game out with an AMD CPU. Yeah, they aren't as powerful as Intel CPUs, but they're also much cheaper. There is nothing "crappy" about AMD CPUs.

yeah AMD is behind intel thats for sure but CPU doesnt matter when gaming at 1080p its the GPU which matters the most.BTW about that Phenom X6 it can last at least 2 years more & more so when overclocked above 3.6Ghz.

just listen for any strange noises from the hard drive. if it boots up and the specs are what he says you are good to go sir.
