You are severely limiting your gaming possibilities by buying a Mac. Even if you install Windows you may not have enough of a GPU to play much. To answer your question, you can get Jade Empire, Diablo II, Dungeon Seige, Fable 1, Neverwinter Nights 1&2, that's all I know of for sure.

You can also get Fate, which is kinda neat. It may, however, kill you with cuteness.

Why do people like Macs? There is nothing good about them. Let's see here Windows = has all software, runs ok, can run activery directory services for domains. Linux = useful for servers, apache servers, ssh servers, and a giant load of other techie stuff. Macs are based off of Unix, so are Macs. Macs = ??? Good for nothing! Can't play windows software, crap server stuff, it has special effects when I open a window? Guess what On my Jaunty laptop I got a cube desktop with super effects.

Ok, a Mac is no good for gaming, but it has its purpose. If you are the creative type, you can edit a movie in mp4 and compose your own soundtrack right out of the box. Plus, the OS is rock solid and comes with a lot of other cool gizmos that Microsoft and the Open Source community are busy trying to copy. Crap server stuff? It's unix, baby. The web, ssh, and "other techie stuff" you mentioned for Linux are all completely 100% compatible with OS X, plus you get a nice GUI that never crashes or gets mucked up. They aren't great for gaming, but they are far from good for nothing.

If you can edit MP4 and compose music out of the box, you must have a different version of Vista than I do. You aren't telling me anything new, and sure, about $600 of the sticker price on a Mac is in the styling. I don't think that would be a shock to anyone. My point wasn't to defend the Mac as some great value, but someone saying you can't get software for it and it's good for nothing has obviously not spent much time on a Mac. I went from Windows to Mac somewhere around 2000 when the OS X public beta came out. I used them for years. Now I have two Vista machines and a Linux server. There are two reasons for this: value and games. The nicest thing about my Macs was that I could plug anything with a USB cable into it and it would somehow just work. Vista has improved and is awfully close to the same compatibility now, but it hasn't been that way for long, and OS X has been doing it for 9 years. Personally I think we all have Apple to thank for lighting a fire under Microsoft's arse to improve Windows.

Did some checking around and it appears that fallout and oblivion will not run on a mac.

The rock solid OS and never crash thing is a bit exaggerated, ive had bad experience with macs. Especially copying a large PSD file to usb and then getting the spinning wheel of death meaning i lost some of my work :(

The whole macs are better for creative people is also a moot / opinionated argument and can be argued one way or another so you shouldn't use that a pro for macs either.

True. If you ever glance at Future Music, you'll see that Macs and PCs are used for composition in roughly equal proportions.

I have both and I love both equally, but I agree with what has been said... if you're buying a computer for gaming purposes, a Mac is NOT the way to go.

I've had the same Powerbook G4 for the past 8 years, and never has it once crashed on me. In terms of reliability & user-friendliness, the Mac wins by a long shot. Macs are much more fun to do everyday normal activities such as browsing, etc. But they are also ideal for music production, which is why I refuse to sell mine after I built this PC.

My next computer will be a 24" G5.

I've been meaning to make my lappy into a "Hackintosh" just for the hell of it. Macs are really no different from Windows PCs except for EFI. It's all about Mac OS X that's the kicker really, but I will admit to the high level of quality and reliability Macs are made with along with excellent ergonomics thanks to the OS X system and design of the computer interfacing. But like I said, it comes down to OS X which is a Unix based OS just like Linux, therefore it's secure, reliable, but of course lacks the mountains of available compatible software.

If I have a problem with Macs, it's the cost of the computers, and the pompous attitude of many Mac users. I'd like to have a Mac for the hell of it, but no way in hell I'm going to spend ass loads of money on buying one when my main thing is games. But to totally disregard a Mac as uncapable of being entertaining on the games front is a bad assumption to make. Yes, to get into the gaming scene on a full frontal assault, you would have to get Windows XP, but there are good Mac OS X games out their like Call of Duty 1/2/4, Battlefield 2142 (which uses Cedega which makes me lol, but I hear it runs very well according to one of my Mac loving buddies), Star Wars Battlefront, Age of Empires Games, there are quite a few choices if you don't want to get Win XP. And if you're getting one of the new Macbooks, you are getting a machine with the necessary graphics horsepower to run new games at least on minimum-medium specs for some titles. Very few games actually need a GPU more powerful than a Geforce 9400M, and plus most of the good PC games out their are older titles that would run very well on the 9400M.

But you need to make a clear cut decision when it comes to a Mac. Do not get it with the main intent of gaming unless it's a very casual thing that you'll do once your work is done or w/e.

Sorry for double post.

I hope you're not refering to an actual G5 powered iMac.......I think you mean one of the Intel ones? And it is very interesting to see that you can get the top of the line 24" iMac with a Radeon 4850. Too bad just upgrading to the 4850 by itself drives the cost over $2000. Ouch. Nice machine though.
