Buying a new Build but i dont understand the case measurements

Hi i need some help

I want to use the

CORSAIR Crystal 570X RGB Tempered Glass, Premium ATX Mid Tower Case, White

Dimensions (H x W x D)512.06 mm x 233.93 mm x 480.06 mm

Will it fit the

ASUS ROG Crosshair VII Hero AM4 AMD X470 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX AMD Motherboard

at Dimensions (W x L)304.80 mm x 243.84 mm

I cant get my head around the measurements at all it all seems muddled.

They use Height which i assume means length? Tho the length is smaller than the width? Im so confused its madness. I was looking at a board that is Extended ATX and it had only a few cases that could fit it limiting my choices to the extremme yet the board appears popular.

You'll want full tower in order to install Extended ATX or a larger ATX case than normal ones.

You can check cases compatible sized boards on their site

BTW why would you need Extended ATX board? you know these things cost more and are for 4 + GPU / PCI cards right?

That board is a Standard ATX size it will work in that case.

Height is the height of the case, so from the bottom to the top, width is the from one side to the other, then last one from front to back

Cases usually lists which motherboards that fit. Like ATX, mATX, ITX. Some also support eATX and given the lack of a proper standard there, they usually list the dimensions as well.

@jwsoul: You can get 4 memory slots even on ITX MOBO.

Micro ATXs come usually with 2 dimm slots but on rare occasions even 4 slots, ATXs come with 4, eATX come with 8 and even 2 slots for CPUs.
