Hello. So, I want to buy a new game, preferable a RTS. I want a game that has the potential to be played by a lot of people. I want to play it at a competitional level. I would like to take part in competitions and so.

i believe Star Craft 2 is the only answer to this request.

i would personally recommend Dota 2, if you don't mind it not being a pure strategy game. very strong e-sports scene. Best thing about it is that it's completely free too. you can only buy cosmetic items to it, wich give you no actual benefit in game.

Do not reffer only to RTS games. I would like to play other genres too. As for Dota 2, I am already playing it. As for Starcraft 2, I'm waiting for all the expansions to come out and then i'll buy then all together.

These days the only games I know that are played as E-sports are Starcraft 2, Dota2 and LoL.

Checked MLG page and they have on their streams Black Ops 2 (dunno how can that be considered competitive) and Planetside2.

I think Quake Live is a competitive game but can't say if the game has a big community.

What about Wargame : Airland Battle ? It seems like a good RTS.
