Ok I was thinking of buying a new graphics card, as currently I have a geforce 8500GT. But I was wondering whether because these new cards are coming out I should wait or not. Will these new cards coming out mean that older cards will drop in price? Also should I buy this card for 88 pounds? ( sorry i dnt know how to do the sign on this new keyboard) http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/6167087/PNY-Verto-Geforce-9800-GT-512MB-DDR3-PCI-Express-X16-Graphics-Card/Product.html

Or spend a bit more to get a better one, I think I could stretch to 140 quid, would spending this get me more for my money?

Depends on what you want to play. A 9800GT should be fine, as it's about the best you can get in your price range.

New GPU will be released sometime in the middle of 09. I would recommend you just get 4830 or 4850. 4850 is more powerful and is the best bang for buch GPU out at the moment. They are around £110-£140 depends on what you get. I would recommend you get one with double slot cooling since they run quite hot.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148468/show_product_overview (It's not double slot but provides good cooling)

Also make sure your PSU is good enough. As for your other question, yes newer GPU will be better and the current ones will drop in price once the new ones get released.

The Radeons that the other guy said about. which one would be better out of all the cards for me? my max budget is £150 but i dnt want to go tht high, I will if neccessary. I just want the best card for my money and don't want to spend loads extra on a card if I can get one cheaper thats almost the same. So if there's a £50 difference and its only a bit better ill go for the cheaper one. ty

Also I see that this card has directx10 support and I read some where that if a card is designed for a different direct x than you have it can affect performance, as I have XP profesional, so have DX9. Is this true and will the graphics card work fine on DX9? Also is this a good card for its price or are there better alternatives? ty

The ATI 4670 offers the BEST price/performance on the market right now,,,its a great little card. Also dont worry about the DX10, its also fully compatible with DX9.

Past 3.6ghz? That's not needed at all, it won't hurt performance ofc, but most games are GPU limited and pushing your cpu won't really affect the fps much.

A good duo or quad won't bottleneck even a 280 GTX at stock speed.

A little off topic, look what I found http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/668/875/-/7200040/Fujitsu-Siemens-GeForce-7300LE-256MB-PCI-Express-Graphics-Card/Product.html?searchtype=genre

They can't be serious, 115 pounds for 7300 LE. What a bargin! Just look at it, it looks like a standard network card.

Ofc people buying this, if there are any, are most likely on the verge of mental retardation. And don't give me, but most people don't have any clue about computers, well that may be, but if you're going to lay down your hard earned cash on a computer you better do some research before you do so, as is with any electronic devices. Ofc you should get a computer suited for your use, but this GPU makes no sense in buying what so ever.
