Hello,

I am planning to buy a new PC, and I need to buy it online. I checked NewEgg.com and this is the configuration I chose:

LINK

First, I need to know if its safe to buy online. I am new in US, and I am not very sure about how things work.

Also, do you think I could change the configuration somewhat? Perhaps get something better for less? Is the price I am paying too much?

I found the same Acer monitor on Tiger Direct for $259.99. So should I buy it from Tiger Direct or continue with NewEgg?

Thanks for your help. Apprecated.

Yes it is safe but I would change a few things in your setup

1.) I would never ever get that PSU because of the quality andit doesn't even show the details of it in the specifications sections. And just look at all the bad reviews. Anyway, never skimp on a PSU. Always get one from a well known brand that is very high quality like this one ( I can almost garuntee this is even more powerful than the one you had on your list) -

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004

2.) If your going to get an NVIDIA video card than don't get that motherboard as it is a waste of money since it supports CF but not SLI. This one is almost exactly the same but doesn't suppport CF and it's cheaper. -http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128359

3.) The model of that GPU has been replaced by the 216 core gtx260's which is more powerful but isn't necesarry( they are almost the same price though). You can look them up on newegg( I'm running out of space...lol)

4.) If you don't want an NVIDIA card then get this one as it is a bit more powerful but is less money and you could then keep ypour motherboard that you already had on the list and CF tehm in the Future( Then you would have to get a more powerful PSU then to be able to do that though.) -http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102801If you aren't on a monitor that has a resolution of 1920x1080 or more though you would be fine with this one for sure and still be able to max out almost all of the games( it's almost the same as the gtx260's just so you know) -http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102810

Hope this helps you out:)

Thank you very much. I appreciate your help a lot, and I changed the configuration as follows:

I do not want to buy an ATI card. I have always been very comfortable with Nvidia+Intel. I suppose I am paying more, but I don't like to be out of my comfort zone. Do I have to buy a card with 216 cores? I mean, how much better is that card compared to the card with 196 cores? If its not such a huge improvement, I'd like to save the $40.

Yet another question. Would it be OK for me to use Windows XP 32bit with SP 2 with this configuration? I am going to get a 64bit OS soon, but at this moment, I don't have the money for it.I heard that there were problems with 32bit OS with 4GB of RAM.

I have bought from TigerDirect before when the price was a lot cheaper then Newegg and I have always had good service using them, You can use the XP 32 bit OS with no problems but you will only be able to use 3GB of your ram because that is all 32 bit will see. but it should not cause you any trouble, I used xp with 4gb of ram for over a year before I finaly upgraded..

Also on your link I see your paying for the guaranted 3 day ups service, if any of your parts have the Free shipping offer, newegg usually has them shipped out within a day and I have always gotten my parts within 3 days using there free shipping so that is something that might save you some money also

Thank you for your reply.

So in my case considering the $20 price difference, would you go with Tiger Direct or persist with New Egg?

It would depend on how much the shipping is at TigerDirect because Newegg has it with free shipping, if it was within like $5 or so I would buy the one at Newegg. plus you could be pretty sure to get all your parts at the same time that way. Also you might to look at this PSU it is the same price as your choice once the rebate is applied and it is 100w more power with more connectors, just an option http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

Yeah, this one is very good too and better than the one I suggested but it's the same brand . The reason I suggested the other one was because I was trying to keep the costs down for you as you seemed to be on somewhat of a budget but if you can afford it I would go with this one. As for tiger vs the egg I would stick with newegg because you have free shipping on a few things and their costumer service seems to never fail. I don't think you can go wrong with newegg at all even if it's a little more expensive

Alright, looks like a great setup and no you don't have to go with the 216 core version at all. So just save the 40$ and have fun with your new setup.

Glad I could help you out:)
