Once you have bought the game to your individual Steam account, it is on that account, whenever you log into it. It will download to whatever PC you have signed into YOUR account with.
Steam, the program itself is free, download it.
AFAIK, you can only purchase games thru the "Steam Store" with a working copy of Steam.
Oh my god...people...you have to read better. I already have Steam, but to buy the game online I can't use the computer with Steam on it. I was wondering if you can buy it online throught the steam website without actually having it installed.Manly-manly-man
Sorry about that. Yeah, you should be able to purchase it via steam on another comp. Just log into your account. Then on the compy you want it installed on, log in and download it. Steam keeps a record of what you bought so you can always download it again. I don't see any issues with this.
My god...I know you need Steam to play the games, and I know games are linked to Steam. I was just wondering if you could purchase games FOR Steam without Steam installed. If I were to buy Bioshock it wouldn't be on a computer with Steam, that doesn't mean I don't have Steam on a computer.Manly-manly-man

Man, you are one testy due Manly manly man...maybe it should be hissy-fit-manly-man.
But seriously, think before you type: can you buy the game off steam on a computer that doesnt have Steam on it?
Ummm, how about no? You need the Steam program for authentication and whatnot, its not this website you just buy stuff off of like downloading a demo off fileplanet or something.
So just put Steam on the rig you want to use to buy it. Like you said, its not like its a resource hog. Cant see why you would object to loading it on.
And in the future, its not polite to bite the hand that feeds you.
