C2D E660 does this mean that 2.4Ghz actually is 4.8Ghz 1 in each core ?

No.That means both cores will work together at 2.4 which is more than enough for any aplication or game because the arhitecture is very strong

If you're asking if a 2.4Ghz duel core is the same as a 4.8Ghz single core, then the answer is no. Each core works on a different calculation thread. If an application uses multiple threads, like Photoshop, it allows each core to do part of the work, speeding up the completion of the task. :)

Calm down will you? No need to make 4-5 threads or PM everybody. Just keep all your questions in ONE post and have patience.

i know everyone says a dual core 2.4ghz doesnt equal 4.8ghz... but what would perform better, an e6600 or a p4 overclocked to 4.8ghz?

A 4.8 ghz CPU would do better than 2 similar CPU's at 2.4 ghz but the P4 being an older architecture is a bit harder to be conclusive.

Getting a P4 to run at 4.8Ghz is do-able...but why jump through hoops, trying to keep it cool, when the newer procs perform as well, or better with stock cooling?
